Wilson upon his retirement from the City as Public Utilities Director. Wilson was appointed an employee in the Salt Lake City Water Department in 1926; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson has served since that date for 53 years, in many different positions within the City Water Department, rising in 1952 to the position of Superintendent of the City's Water Department, and recently to the position of Director, Department of Public Utilities; and WHEREAS, during that time has been a faithful, conscientious, efficient and honest employee of the Water Department who has earned the deserving respect and admiration of his colleagues and the public with whom he has dealt; and WHEREAS, in connection with his work, Mr. Wilson has served and is serving with distinction on the Boards of Directors, having been chairman of several, water-related public and private corpora- tions, often without compensation for the many additional hours spent in furthering the interests of Salt Lake City and the residents of the City and Salt Lake County, whose water concerns have been his first priority; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson has brought nothing but honor to Salt Lake City Corporation, himself, and other City employees, and the residents of the City and Salt Lake County owe Mr. Wilson a great debt of gratitude for his many services; and WHEREAS, the City will sorely miss Mr. Wilson's advice and expertise in the Water Department and his influence on the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, that the Board does hereby express to Charles W. Wilson, for itself and the residents of Salt Lake City, its sincere appreciation and gratitude for his exceptionally devoted and capable services; for his untiring efforts and service given to Salt Lake City and its inhabitants. The Board further wishes him well in all pursuits as he shortly leaves employment with Salt Lake City and hopes that he will derive great satisfaction in his retirement from knowing he has played an important role in and forever placed his stamp on the development operation and the future of the Water Department and its service to the public.
