RESOLUTION NO. 90 of 1981
(Adopting Target Area Plan
for Westside Community)
WHEREAS, in 1973 the Planning Commission of Salt Lake
City, Utah, promulgated the Westside Community Master Plan as
the revision of the 1967 Master Plan of Salt Lake City, Utah
as it relates specifically to the Westside Community of the
City; and
WHEREAS, to participate in the federal Community Develop-
ment Program, the City was responsible to make an in-depth
analysis of qualifying neighborhoods within its communities
to identify causes of deteriorating conditions in order to
formulate strategy recommendations to correct these conditions
and guide development; and
WHEREAS, one neighborhood - the Westside Neighborhood
within the Westside Community was targeted for such review
and analysis by the Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, that research and the resulting reports,
recommendations and strategies for such neighborhood have
been compiled as part of the City's Community Development
Program into a document known as the target area plan entitled:
WESTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN: For the Westside Neighborhood
Strategy Area; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission on September 11, 1980,
adopted said plan often referred to as "Target Area Plan" or
"Neighborhood Strategy Area" - "NSA" plan as recommendations
to guide the City's strategy for addressing the needs of said
neighborhood as an outgrowth of said Community Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed said plan and
concurs that the recommendations therein are valuable to guide
the development of said neighborhood:
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Salt Lake
City, Utah, that the report and recommendation known as target
area plan prepared by the Planning Commission proposing the
strategy for guiding development within the Westside Neighbor-
hood of the Westside Community entitled:
WESTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN: For the Westside Neigh-
borhood Strategy Area, (dated September of 1980, and
approved by Planning Commission September 11, 1980)
is hereby officially adopted by the legislative body of Salt
Lake City. Said plan is incorporated by reference and three
copies of said plan shall be retained on file with the City
Recorder and be available for public review and inspection.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
Fth day of October , 1981.
