RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, believing that the laborer is worthy of his hire
and that in employing boni fide citizens and property owners of Salt
Lake, the city receives greater returns for the expenditure than in
the employment of non-residents and aliens at a lesser wage, and
WHEREAS, the constantly increased cost of living makes it
almost prohibitive for the rage earner en the preset day scale to
live in conformity with the needs of American free ren, therefore
BE IT REOLVED that the scale for common day laborers in the
employ of the city , now receiving $2 .25 per day be increased to
$2.50 per day for eight hours , and those receiving a sum less than
02 .25 per day shall be increased 25/ per day more than their present
wage,
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the several departments have all ordin-
ances affecting their respective departments governing these changes
so amended that their adoption may become operative not later than
January 1 , 1914 .
