Result
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Commission and the Board of Trustees
of Salt Lake County Service District No. 1 have legal responsibilities
with regard to providing solid waste disposal services to their
citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners and the Board of
District Trustees, by agreement establishing a landfill advisory
council charged with developing recommendations for such consolidation
and has executed a resolution authorizing the same; and
WHEREAS, based upon recommendation by such council, such boards
are desirous of consolidating the management of their respective
solid waste disposal operations in order to avoid the duplication of
functions and achieve greater efficiencies; and
WHEREAS, Title 11, Chapter 13, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, allows
public entities to enter into cooperative agreements to provide
services and maintain service facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Salt Lake City
Commissioners does hereby accept and approve the above-referenced and
hereto-attached Interlocal Agreement for and on behalf of Salt Lake
City and authorizes the Mayor to execute the same.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
21st day of December, 1978.
