Please inform the Board that I appreciate their concern for a reasonable system of compensation for police officers who are permanently disabled while in the public service and that I will study the advisability of legislation. In fact, I think a method of compensation is an excellent idea; the only question is whether the method should be established and funded at the local, state, or federal level. Best wishes for the coming year. Sincerely, J.tifarn JG:lo HARRISON A.WILLIAMS,JR.,N.J.,CHAIRMAN CLAMOR.PELL,R.I. RICHARD S.SCHWEIKER.PA. . ROBERT T.STAFFORD.VT.
