WHEREAS the Salt Lake & Los Angeles Railway Company
own and operate a line of railway between Salt Lake City and
a pleasure resort known as Saltair and,
WHEREAS wricti a portion of said line of the Salt Lake
& Los Angeles Railway Company is operated under a franchise
granted said railway company by Salt Lake City Corporation and
WHEREAS said Salt_ Lake & Los Angeles Railway Company
publish a schedule purporting to set forth the train service
which it maintains between Salt Lake City and the resort of
Saltair and
WHEREAS on a number of occasions during the past week
said Salt Lake & Los Angeles Railway Company have failed to
comply with their published schedule and operate the full number
of trains as called for by said schedule , and
WHEREAS said Salt Lake & Los Angeles Railway Company
frequently fail to provide equipment adequate to handle the
passenger traffic of said line in safety and comfort,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commission_
ers of Salt Lake City that the City Attorney be instructed to
render an opinion as to whether the aforesaid franchise under
which the Salt Lake &; Los Angeles Railway Company operated within
the limits of Salt Lake City carries any provisions under which
3 the Board of Commissioners may compell the management of the
