A. Communication Budget Policy
A Council Member has suggested updating the office policy regulating district
communication budgets to increase the allowable limit for community building activity
donations from the current $30o to $500. The annual district communication budget
allotment was increased from $3,70o in 2013 to $6,20o in 2014.

The Council was in support of increasing the donation limit to $5oo.
B. Early advertising for Planning Items
The following land use items are on the March 1 agenda for a briefing. Does the Council
support early advertising the same night to hold public hearings on March 15? The next
available public hearing is not until April 19.

C. City Council/School Board Leadership Agenda Items
The City Council and School Board leaderships are scheduled to meet on Tuesday,February
23, 2o16 at the Council Office from 4:oo pm to 5:3o pm. Please let Council staff know if you
have an agenda topics you wish to have discussed at this meeting.
Ms. Gust-Jenson asked Council to inform their Liaison or Jan Aramaki if they had any
issues they would like discussed at this meeting.
D. Hibernian Saint Patrick's Day Parade "The Irish is Rising"
2016 marks the tooth anniversary of the founding of the Irish Republic.This year's
Hibernian Day Parade with take place on Saturday, March 12, 2016.The march begins
promptly at io:oo a.m. and heads down 40o West and 200 South and runs south through
Gateway.The Salt Lake City Fire Department will provide Council Members and their
families along with the fire department and their families a ride on a fire truck through the
parade route. Calendar appointment has been sent out,please let staff know if you have any
questions.
Ms. Gust-Jenson asked Council to let the front office know if they were planning to go to
the parade so they could alert the Fire Department.
E. American Planning Association (APA) National Conference
This year's American Planning Association(APA)National Planning Conference is in
downtown Phoenix,AZ Saturday,April 2-5, 2o16.APA offers a vast selection of general
sessions, exhibitors'meet and greet receptions, sessions and discussions as well as mobile
workshops and orientation tours. Calendar appointment has been sent out,please let staff
know if you would like to attend.
Ms. Gust-Jenson said Staff needed to hear back from Council Members if they were
interested in attending the APA National Conference.
F. Utah League of Cities and Towns Mid-Year Convention
The ULCT mid-year convention is held each year in St. George.This year's conference kicks
off Wednesday,April 6-8, 2°16.A full day of this conference covers current municipal issues
and we'll spend part of another day reviewing the outcome of the most recent legislative
session and its impact on local government.A program for spouses is also included in this
conference.The registration fee includes a Wednesday evening social,Thursday evening
dinner and entertainment as well as breakfasts and lunches on Thursday and Friday.

Ms. Gust-Jenson reminded the Council of the ULCT mid-year convention.There was
some confusion regarding the dates of the convention. Ms. Gust-Jenson said Staff would
double check the dates of the conference.
Ms. Gust-Jenson said there was a new organization in the western states looking to hold a
gathering in Arizona that related to water and one of the Council Members expressed
interest in attending. She said the date was coming up soon and the Council received an
email appointment for the gathering.
