8:25:52 PM Information Needed by Council Staff
A. Wasatch Front Regional Council Item
2019-2o5o Regional Transportation Plan Small Area Meeting - at the April 26 meeting,
Council Members Kitchen, Mendenhall, and Penfold indicated a willingness to attend the
May 18 meeting. However there is a scheduling conflict as council Members Adams, Kitchen,
Luke and Penfold are scheduled to travel to San Francisco as part of the Downtown Alliance
Urban Exploration Trip. In Council staff discussions with Wasatch Front Regional Council
Deputy Director Ted Knowlton, has suggested that three Council Members attend the Northeast
Salt Lake County Small Area Meeting on May 18, a Wednesday. The meeting is scheduled to be
held from 3-5 p.m. in the South Salt Lake City Hall Overflow Room at 220 Morris Avenue to
help shape the 2o5o Transportation Plan. Mr. Knowlton said it would be a better opportunity
for up to three Council Members to start helping to shape the plan before it is brought before the
public later this year than listening to a presentation to the Council by Wasatch Front staff.
> Besides, Council Member Mendenhall, would any other Council
Members like to attend the Regional Transportation Plan Small Area
Meeting?
Only Councilmember Mendenhall was able to attend.
B. Weigand Day Center Tours
The Roman Catholic Church Diocese of Salt Lake City is offering Council Members tours
of the Weigand Homeless Resource Center on Rio Grande Street to show what services the
center has for homeless people. Diocese Government Liaison Jean Hill has suggested May 13,
May 16, May 24, and May 27 as dates she and other staff could meet with you. She said the
diocese and the day center would work around Council Members' schedules. Two Council
Members have indicated that they visited the resource center previously and are familiar with its
operation.
> Are other Council Members interested in touring the center? If so,
what dates from the four suggested dates would you want to tour the
center, and what times would you want to take the tour?
Council Members were encouraged to let Council Staff Assistant
Becky Dangerfield know if they are able to attend and which day; or to
sign the clipboard being circulated.
