TUESDAY, APRIL 9, 2002
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session on Tuesday, April 9,
2002, at 6:00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council Chambers, City County Building, 451 South
State.
The following Council Members were present:
Carlton Christensen Van Turner Eric Jergensen
Jill Remington Love Nancy Saxton Dave Buhler
Dale Lambert
Mayor Ross C. "Rocky" Anderson; Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Steven
Allred, Deputy City Attorney; and Scott Crandall, Deputy City Recorder were present.
Councilmember Buhler presided at and Councilmember Lambert conducted the meeting.
#1. The Council led the Pledge of Allegiance.
#2. Councilmember Jergensen moved and Councilmember Saxton seconded to approve
the minutes of the Salt Lake City Council meeting held April 2, 2002, which motion
carried, all members voted aye.

QUESTIONS TO THE MAYOR FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
Councilmember Christensen said he understood the State wanted to close several parks
in July including the Jordan River Parkway. He said the park could be saved if the
City wanted to take it over. He asked if the proposal was moving forward and what the
Mayor's views were on the issue.
Mayor Anderson said parks were valuable assets to the community and the State' s proposal
put the City in a difficult situation. He said this was a time sensitive issue and the
Administration was exploring possible options. He said Council input might be required
based on how quickly the issue needed to be addressed.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
#1. RE: Accept public comment and consider adopting a resolution adopting
the One-Year Plan for the 28th Year Community Development Block Grant Funding (CDBG) ,
Home Investment Partnerships Program Funding (HOME) , Emergency Shelter Grant Funding
(ESG) , and Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids Funding (HOPWA) , (2002-2003)
and approving an interlocal cooperation agreement between Salt Lake City and the United
States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) .
ACTION: Councilmember Saxton moved and Councilmember Turner seconded to close
the public hearing, which motion carried, all members voted aye.
