TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2009
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session on
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 7 : 00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council Chambers,
City County Building, 451 South State .
The following Council Members were present:
Carlton Christensen JT Martin Van Turner
Jill Remington Love Eric Jergensen Soren Simonsen
Luke Garrott
Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Edwin Rutan, City
Attorney; Mayor Ralph Becker; David Everitt, Mayor' s Chief of Staff;
and Beverly Jones, Deputy City Recorder; were present.
Councilmember Christensen presided at and conducted the meeting.
OPENING CEREMONY
#1 . The Council led the Pledge of Allegiance.
#2 . 7 : 05: 12 PM Councilmember Jergensen moved and Councilmember
Sorensen seconded to approve the minutes of Salt Lake City Council
meetings held May 5, 2009 and May 12 , 2009, which motion carried, all

#1. RE: 7 : 05 : 34 PM Accept public comment and consider adopting
an ordinance adopting the final budget and related ordinances,
excluding the budget for the Library Fund which is separately adopted,

The following spoke in opposition to a fee increase for Airport
badges and vehicle inspections for taxicabs; Don Barron; Dave Jackson
and Mark Hatch.
Councilmember Simonsen moved and Councilmember Turner seconded to
continue the public hearing to a future Council meeting, which motion
carried, all members voted aye .

Councilmember Love moved and Councilmember Jergensen seconded to
set the date of June 16, 2009 at 7 : 00 p.m. to accept public comment on
a resolution for a special bond election for the construction of the
Public Safety Facilities, which motion carried, with a roll call vote
of Council Members Simonsen, Love, Jergensen, Garrott, Martin, Turner
and Christensen all voting aye.
Councilmember Simonsen moved and Councilmember Garrott seconded to
make a substitute motion that the Council set the date of June 9, 2009
allowing for continuation to June 16, 2009, which motion failed, with a
roll call vote of Council Members Simonsen and Garrott voting aye and
Council Members Martin, Love, Jergensen, Turner and Christensen voting
nay.
