TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 , 2009
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session
on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 7 : 00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council
Chambers, City County Building, 451 South State.
The following Council Members were present:
Carlton Christensen Soren Simonsen Eric Jergensen
Jill Remington Love Van Turner JT Martin
The following Councilmember was absent :
Luke Garrott
Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Edwin Rutan, City
Attorney; Mayor Ralph Becker; David Everitt, Mayor' s Chief of Staff;
and Beverly Jones, Deputy City Recorder; were present.
Councilmember Christensen presided at and Councilmember Love
conducted the meeting.
OPENING CEREMONY
#1 . 7:04:20PM Councilmember Love introduced a scout troop. Nathan
Taylor from the troop led the Pledge of Allegiance.
#2 . 7:06:32 PM Councilmember Jergensen moved and Councilmember
Simonsen seconded to approve the minutes of the Salt Lake City Council
meeting held August 18, 2009, which motion carried, all members present

7:06:47PM QUESTIONS TO THE MAYOR FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
Councilmember Martin asked Mayor Becker if he had an opportunity
to listen to President Obama' s address to the children of the Country.
Mayor Becker said he had not heard the address but hoped to watch it
tonight. Councilmember Martin said he felt children who did not watch
the address would be at a disadvantage .

#2 . RE: 7:21:13 PM Setting the protest hearing date of November 5,
2009 at 7 : 00 p.m. to consider adopting a resolution to (a) finance the
cost of certain infrastructure improvements consisting of sidewalks,
pavement, curb and gutter, driveway approaches, and all other
miscellaneous work necessary to complete the improvements in a proper
and workmanlike manner; (b) defray the cost and expenses of
improvements by assessments to be levied against the properties
benefited by such improvements; and (c) provide notice of intention to
designate an assessment area to authorize such improvements and to fix
a time and place for protests against such improvements or the
designation of said assessment area; and related matters . (Special

Councilmember Simonsen moved and Councilmember Christensen
seconded to set the date and adopt Resolution 49 of 2009, which motion
carried, all members present voted aye .

for satisfying the condition set forth in Ordinance 74 of 2008 closing
a portion of property located at 4145 West from 700 South to the Union

Councilmember Turner moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded to
adopt Resolution 48 of 2009 extending the time period for satisfying
the condition set forth in Ordinance 74 of 2008 closing a portion of
property located at 4145 West from 700 South to the Union Pacific
right-of-way to September 9, 2011, which motion carried, all members
present voted aye .

Community Master Plan Future Land Use Map to change the land use
designation for property located at approximately 248 South and 254
