Council South between 2000 East and person Fowler,I am sure I am not the first person to write expressing concern about the 1300 East speed of traffic on 2700 South between 2000 east and 1300 east.Having recently moved back to Salt Lake after 2 plus years in California,I have been waiting to write until I was here a little bit to see if there is any variation in the issue.What I have noticed is as follows:1.that during the school year and on weekday workdays folks park on 2700 south making visibility at the corners very challenging.Speeding is also an issue.2. Turning left or right,during heavy traffic,onto 2700 South from the ABC streets is almost impossible.Between the lack of visibility and the speed of the traffic,better to find other ways out of the neighborhood.3.This is a very walkable neighborhood and I am out walking with my small dog at least three times a day.Crossing 2700 South requires stepping out and trusting that oncoming vehicles will slow or stop for me.And I walk with a cane,further complicating the crossing.4.There are two neighborhood schools for young children.One is a public school,Highland Park elementary,facing 2700 South approx 1700 east,and the other is Carden,a small private school,on Dearborn at the corner of 2700.I suggest,and,again,very likely not the first,that the city put 4 ways stops at each of these corners so parents and children and others in the neighborhood can drive and walk at these intersections with a sense of safety.Orange crossing Bags would be helpful as well.It would also slow the flow of traffic,which is always too fast. 5.1 would like the city to consider rumble strips at intervals on 2700 south so as to slow traffic.Hardly anybody seems to honor the 25 mile an hour speed limit.And I have yet to see one of those traffic monitors clocking speed.Rumble strips would be a long term traffic slowing measure.6.I trust you to be aware of other innovative traffic slowing measures to make my neighborhood safer.Please let me hear from you on this issue. The reason?During those thirty years,my neighborhood(Hollywood between 9th and 11th)has repeatedly asked for help with traffic problems.The only time the city has actually done anything to help was while Rocky Anderson was mayor.Apparently the mayor really does set the tone.With all the development in Sugarhouse,traffic problems are getting even worse,while the city does nothing to help.Don't get me wrong,I'm not opposed to the development—people have to live somewhere,But the city also should do whatever it takes to protect historic neighborhoods.So now,when the city asks for my help,all I have to say is,Clean your own damn drains!Jeff Laver Author of A Happier Year 7/12/2022 13:05 Georg Stutzenberger D3 Online forum Homelessness Homelessness camping/D3 7/12/2022 13:07 Clare Lintereur D3 Online forum Homelessness Drug addicts in public spaces/ D3 Date/Time Opened Contact Name District Source Popular Topic Subject Description 7/12/2022 15:38 Clare Lintereur N/A Council Comments Homelessness (EXTERNAL)Drug addicts along Hello,I was a visitor to SIC a few days ago and had heard that there was a bike path the bike path along the Jordan River.So,I decided to ride from our hotel(around 7000 5)along that path up to Ogden.I was shocked to see drug addicts camped everywhere.Some wandered aimlessly.One was drinking(at 7am)&swung her bottle at me.Others leered.Encampments are strewn along a full ten mile stretch.It is tragic that good citizens have had their public lands overrun by drug addicts.Homeless isn't the right description.These are DRUG ADDICTS that have squatted along children's parks,along a bike path that working citizens paid for.I was on maximum adrenaline running the gauntlet of druggies,not knowing what they will do.Neither do they.Why do you tolerate this??For one,I will definitely never come back,and much more importantly, why on earth do you sanction this when citizens live right there!Would you tolerate this in YOUR back yard?Sweep them out,REQUIRE sobriety and give them a way forward! Enabling this cesspool is a disservice.They are not living their best lives.Your policies are allowing them to stay steeped in their cesspools,and destroy the neighboring communities along with them.I used to live in Southern California,where our crowning jewel was our huge bike path network.It was a testament to a lot of taxes and a ton of work on the part of our city council.But,Los Angeles policies allowed a cesspool,even gave them clean needles to continue that life.I witnessed a rape on the path,someone accosted at knifepoint,multiple lunges toward me by drug addicts,and my friend was strangled and nearly killed by a strung out addict.This is NOT a homeless problem,it's a DRUG problem&it is up to YOU to call it for what it is,sweep them out,sober them up and require them to get to their best life,not this trash.So sad,so sad.I have worked extensively with homeless in downtown LA.Enabling drug addiction is not the answer.A sober way forward,and a hard stop from ever destroying neighborhoods again with their squatting is necessary and merciful.I did not expect this in SLC.Get to work.I am, frankly,disgusted to see more DIE members on your team than people looking to clean up the drug problem.Get a grip on reality-diversity is not the problem.We're all playing the game of'The Emperor's New Clothes',while literally everyone except the woke elite mob,media&academics knows that all the diversity crap is an agenda,not a problem. Neighborhood Safe Streets Meeting Side Streets Meeting Amy,I live on the SE corner of REDACTED.We have lived there for almost 40 years.In recent years we have seen an increase of traffic that is now to the point now of being unsafe for our residents.The city has urged people to get out and walk their kids and dogs,run,ride their bikes,and enjoy the area by foot.Have it be a walking community.The McClelland Bike trail is upon block on McClelland and has become very dangerous for all activities.The business owners up on 1100E have allowed their employees to park along McClelland up to the intersection so driver's traveling east and west on Ramona on McClelland have to pull out into the intersection to see cars coming.We call parking enforcement all the time ticket these people parking too close to the intersection.And with all the OVER development that has been allowed to take place the traffic is horrible and the more those apartments get filled the more traffic we will have pushed down into our little streets with people going double the speed limit especially north and south on 10th East.We have had several close calls with bicyclists already on that corner.We have tried to call the Police to help but that's only a temporary fix.WE even have a resident that sits on his sidewalk with his hose and sprays at the cars speeding.We need street speed bumps up and down 10th East.Decreasing the speed won't do a thing.It will be ignored and people will drive just like they are now. FAST!They need to be forced to slow down.They are just ignorant disrespectful people that don't care about us and our safety.We have kids biking on Ramona,kids playing on their front lawns,pets...etc.Someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed if we don't take care of this problem.We will all be at the meeting on the 26th of July.Tom Millar has done an outstanding job along with Sarah Woolsey.We have tried just about everything in the past few years that we can think of with no results.We look forward to your thoughts and what you think we might be able to do as a community to help resolve these issues that Sugarhouse Developers have dropped in our laps to content with.Thanks for all you have done for our community.We all voted for you and thought you were the best candidate for representing us and we haven't been disappointed.We are excited to hear what your thoughts are moving forward.Best Fran Hays Frances Hays 7/15/2022 16:26 Michelle Macdonald D2 Council Comments Homelessness Field Council Comments Email Hi my name is Michelle Macdonald.I am a homeowner at Attachment 45 REDACTED and also on the HOA board.My HOA president Lisa sent me your email.I am contacting you today in regards to the open field located off of Foss Street and 2nd South.I am not sure if you are aware or not of the many problems we have had over the last couple years in regards to this field.In the past I have been working with Kelly the code inspector,however I feel this problem is much greater then he and I.Over the past couple of years we have been reassured that the property owners are aware of the problem and are anxious to help us resolve the many encampments and ongoing problems on their property.A camping trailer started on fire on May 4th which caused quite a scare for our community.We have asked several times for barricades to be placed across the driveway/entrance of this filled,also we have requested for the property owners to mow down the very dry and tall weeds in the field to no prevail.
