12/02/2008 - Minutes PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2008 The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session on Tuesday December 2, 2008 at 7 : 00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council Chambers, City County Building, 451 South State . The following Council Members were present: Carlton Christensen Van Turner Eric Jergensen Jill Remington Love JT Martin Luke Garrott Soren Simonsen Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Edwin Rutan, City Attorney; Mayor Ralph Becker; David Everitt, Mayor' s Chief of Staff; and Christine Meeker, City Recorder; were present. Councilmember Love presided at and Councilmember Garrott conducted the meeting. OPENING CEREMONY #1 . 7:06:31 PM The Council led the Pledge of Allegiance . #2 . 7:07:09 PM A moment of silence was held in recognition of Salt Lake City Firefighter Dylan Hopkins . #3. 7:11:55 PM Councilmember Christensen moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded to approve the minutes of the Salt Lake City Council meeting held November 18 , 2008, which motion carried, all members voted aye . PUBLIC HEARING #1 . 7:10:10 PM Accept public comment and consider adopting an ordinance amending Salt Lake City Ordinance 64 of 2008 which adopted the final budget of Salt Lake City, Utah for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2008 and ending June 30, 2009 . View Attachments James Curtis spoke in opposition of cutting $22, 000 for ground transportation enforcement. Councilmember Christensen moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded to close the public hearing, which motion carried, all members voted aye . (B 08-9) 08 - 142 PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2008 7:12:20 PM COMMENTS TO THE CITY COUNCIL The following citizens spoke in opposition to an ordinance amending Section 21A. 24 . 190, Salt Lake City Code, pertaining to the Table of Permitted and Conditional Uses for Residential Districts, Private Clubs in Residential Mixed Use Zoning Districts pursuant to Petition No . 400-06-45; Art Brown, Sam Petersen, Nephi Kemmethmweller and Laura Fuller. Dave Jackson spoke in opposition to the reduction of taxi cabs at the Salt Lake City International Airport. Chris Barker spoke in opposition of the proposed St. Joseph' s Villa expansion. Douglas Cotant spoke regarding the Tabernacle Choir.
