A. Downtown Alliance's 4th Annual Urban Exploration Trip 2017
DA's Urban Exploration trip will take place in Boston, MA, Wednesday, May 17th
through Saturday, May loth. Downtown Alliance is currently working on, and will
strategically select, projects and programs in the Boston area that correlate to
emerging initiatives and issues in downtown SLC. The calendar appointment has
been sent out, please let staff know if you are interested in attending.
➢ As these trips are focused on building relationships and inspiring
innovation in downtown Salt Lake City,would the Council like to add this
annual trip to the Council office travel policy as 1 of the 3 pre-authorized
trips every year? Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director, said
although it was not listed here, this also applied to the American Planning
Association Conference.A majority of the Council was in support of adding
these to the travel policy.
B. Annual Calendar Update — July
Utah Code states the Council must "hold a regular meeting at least once each
month", though two regular meetings are typically scheduled per month. When we
drafted the annual calendar, the July meetings were listed as follows:
✓ July 4 — No meeting - Holiday
✓ July ii —Work Session, Formal Meeting
✓ July 18 — RDA, Work Session Only
✓ July 25 — No Meeting
➢ Does the Council support a formal meeting to the July 18 meeting? Yes
C. Annual Calendar Update — November
The Council approved moving the November RDA meeting from Nov. list to Nov.
14th.
✓ November 7 — Election Day
✓ November 14 — RDA, Work Session, Formal Mccting
✓ November 21 - Work Session, Formal Meeting
✓ November 28 —Work Session, Formal Meeting
Does the Council want to meet three times in November? Ms. Gust-Jenson
said three meeting were scheduled but the Council could hold two.
Councilmember Mendenhall said she was in favor of three. Councilmember
Penfold said at this point, he wanted to leave them in the calendar and re-
evaluate them later in the year. He said if the Council decided to only have
two meetings, a formal session would have to be added to November 14th.
