TUESDAY, JANUARY 21 , 2014
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session
on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 7 : 00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council
Chambers, City County Building, 451 South State.
The following Council Members were present:
James Rogers Kyle LaMalfa Stan Penfold
Luke Garrott Erin Mendenhall Charlie Luke
Lisa Adams
Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Margaret Plane,
City Attorney; David Everitt, Mayor' s Chief of Staff; and Beverly
Jones, Deputy City Recorder; were present.
Councilmember Luke presided at and conducted the meeting.
OPENING CEREMONY
#1 . 7 :29 : 59 PM The Pledge of Allegiance.
#2 . 7 : 30 : 27 PM Councilmember LaMalfa moved and Councilmember
Garrott seconded to approve the Salt Lake City formal meeting minutes
for Tuesday, January 7, 2014, which motion carried, all members voted

7 : 31 : 48 PM QUESTIONS TO THE MAYOR FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
David Everitt, Mayor' s Chief of Staff, was present for questions .
Councilmember Penfold asked if the Mayor' s Office had received any
notice from the State of Utah delegating any authority to the Mayor as
requested by the State of the City speech. Mr. Everitt said nothing
had been received.
7 : 32 :20 PM COMMENTS TO THE CITY COUNCIL
The following spoke or submitted cards in favor of the Move to
Amend petition or air quality: Amy O' Connor; Ray Wheeler; Verne
Cotton; Anne Taverne; Candace Bull; Benjamin Jordan; Giles Larsen;
Rita Kelley; Nate Housley; Natalie Allsup-Edwards; Zachary Sonntag;
and Robert Comstock.
Douglas Cotant spoke about hiring more taxis in the City. Cindy
Cromar spoke about Bill Rutherford who had worked but retired from the
City as the Urban Forester.

CONSENT AGENDA 8 : 04 : 48 PM
Councilmember Garrott moved and Councilmember Penfold seconded to
adopt the Consent Agenda, which motion carried, all members voted aye.
#1 . RE : Approving the appointment of David S . Richardson to the
Historic Landmark Commission for a term extending through July 14,
2016 .
