CORRECTION & ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES
The minutes of May 18, 1983 and June 22, 1983 were accepted by all Board
members present.
YEAR-END FINANCIAL REPORT
Scott passed out a copy of the Year-End Financial Report and the Preliminary
Golf Fund Balance Sheet to each n1a*rber present. He reviewed with them the
figures on the Financial Report and explained that roundswere down at every
course due to the weather. Mountain Dell showed an increase in the dollar
amount because the carts were figured in for the whole year, where a year
ago they were only half a year. Wayne Hadley inquired about how our figures
compared to the County golf courses and Scott replied that he'd heard they
were having a bad year also. Norma said food concessions were down, but
that was due to them being closed. Nibley showed an increase; last year
there was alot of construction. Now that the courses are free of nest
construction projects, we should see an increase of rounds. Scott then
reviewed the Golf Fund Balance Sheet. He predicted $2 million in revenue
for this year as long as the weather is favorable. Ione asked about the
General & Administrative figure in Capital Expenditures of $73,409 and
why it was 34.5% above the budgeted amount. Scott answered that it is what
Al Haines, City Council, Mayor, etc. bill to the enterprise fund. Ione is
going to look into exactly what it consists of and will get a breakdown.
The range balls were taken out of cost of sales. Wayne Hadley made the
notion to approve the rounds and the preliminary report. Jimmy Brown
seconded the notion. The motion was passed with all the Board members
present voting aye.

CAPITAL LMPROVE?•1EN1S
Mark gave a brief report on each golf course's capital improvements. Scott
pointed out that County Flood is working at Rose Park and will be working
along the riverbank all summer. Wayne wondered why #1 Tee can't be sodded.
Scott said it won't last because of horseback riding along the river. Wayne
also mentioned that there was a big "mud hole". Mark said it wasn't black
topped all the way since it was too wet and they were having trouble getting
water out of the area. Norma asked Mark to check into it and give a report
in the next meeting. Wayne said there's a birch tree dying. It looked like
it was killed by Round-up. Mark is going to check with Shade Tree, but he
thought is was birch bore that is killing it. Jimmy Brown questioned about
the plans for the island at Glendale. It is presently being worked on. It
will be flattened out and then seeded with a tall grass to keep weeds out and
provide greenery. Ione asked if the problem on the driving range at Nibley
had been resolved. Mark is expecting 2,000 new range balls in today. They
will also be used at Bonneville. The new balls are cheaper than the balls
being used at present. Wayne inquired on signs in parking lot at Nibley.
There are "exit" and "entrance" signs up, but new ones are also being ordered.
The parking lot will be paved very soon. Scott mentioned that he would like
to take Jimmy Brown to see Forest Dale to look at the water situation at #7.
Scott believes the thing to do is uncover the underground water and have a
small creek run through rather than have bog spots. This would also enhance
the hole. Ione has received complaints about high weeds at Bonneville along
Wasatch Boulevard. It's become a traffic hazard. Mark stated that he would
send the Tiger Flail to cut them down as soon as it is finished being repaired.
The dirt on the side of the road is for #17 and will be moved soon. They
were waiting until the new budget for this project. The dirt by the tennis
club was free dirt and it is for #10 green. Ione also requested that Scott
talk to #10 Fire Station to find out how many balls were hitting the Station.
The firemen are concerned that when the new library is built, the balls will
be hitting it. Scott read a list of new projects, most of which are already
under way. Bonneville: (1) 17th fairway & green, (2) #10 Tee & green,
(3) Landscape area west of practice area, (4) Landscape area around snack bar
#2; Glendale: (5) Replace driving range fence on west side, (6) Asphalt
cart path from greenkeeper house to clubhouse; Mtn. Dell: (7) Cart paths,
(8) Sandtrap #17 fairway, (9) Build new green on #9; Pose Park: (10) Construct
drainage system & sarxdtrap along #16 & #17, (11) Extend #6 Tee; Nibley:
(12) Build new #5 green, (13) Targe parking lot; Forest Dale: (14) Install
drainline at #9 fairway, (15) Install cart paths around clubhouse.
Wayne Hadley thought we were going to put harrier chains at Rose Park to
stop traffic from coming through. A work order has gone through to have
our welders manufacture a gate. It didn't come out of capital improvements,
but out of line item budget.
OTHER BUSINESS
Score Cards. Scott reported that a contract for the design of the new score
cards has been sent to the Mayor's office. The new holes are being measured
for new yardages and also for new 150 markers to replace the 135 ones. Golf
Pros would really like to see bushes on both sides of the fairway. Scott
feels that poles would be easier to maintain. Discussion continued. Wayne
motioned that the 150 markers be a metal or wooden post and have it put on
the scorecards. Jimmy Brown seconded the motion. The notion passed with
all Board members present voting aye. Ione questioned about scorecards at

Nibley. Scott told her that some were printed just to get by. The same
thing would have to be done for Bonneville.
Marshall Golf Vehicles. Scott stated that they were traded for materials
(reels) from the Parks. They are using them through out the system.
NEW AGENDA ITEMS
Norma asked for new agenda items. Wayne Hadley suggested we get feed back
from the Pros on preference on improvements at their courses. Norma said
they should go through the proper channels, which is through Scott and Mark.
Scott explained that he and Mark have been going around to each golf course
and making list of all maintenance that needs to be done. Norma strongly
suggested that something be done to the sandtraps. Scott said they are
starting on them next week. Ione asked how many extra employees were hired
for summer maintenance for the golf courses. Scott replied that it depended
on the course. For an 18-hole course, there were seven to do the maintenance.
This is very minimal, especially compared to other golf courses.
The next ureeting will be August 17, 1983 at Mountain Dell Golf Course,
3287 Cummings Road. If you have any new items for the agenda, please
contact Norma Carr. It is very important that you contact Norma Carr
or Teresa Law if you cannot make the meeting. There have been alot of
absences.
