A. 6:06:22 PM Save the Date — Library Square Visioning — June 14, 201'7
Lia Summers, Senior Advisor for Arts &Culture has invited Council Members and
staff to participate in a 1 hour Stakeholder meeting, Wednesday, June 14th at 11:00 -
12:oopm. They are hoping to receive interest from 1-3 Council Members to
participate in this meeting. The Stake Holders will be discussing how this great
public space can be re-imagined to further serve its purpose.
To accomplish this, they have teamed up with the Urban Land Institute of Utah to
assemble a panel of regional experts in public space activation that will meet with
stakeholders and the public June 14 — 15 to hear strengths, opportunities, and other
considerations regarding the Library Square block and offer recommendations to
better utilize it. Lia would like to make clear, there are no pre-conceived notions
about what action the City will take following this engagement. They simply want to
hear the public's thoughts about what they love about their Main Library, and what
can be done to maximize its impact as a community asset. Council Member Kitchen
has already indicated interest in participating in the events over several days, as have
Council Members Adams and Johnston tentatively.
➢ Are other Council Members interested specifically in the Stakeholder
meeting on June 14 at it a.m.? Councilmember Penfold suggested if
any Councilmembers were interested to accept the appointment.
➢ If three Council Members are not available,would you like a Council staff
member to attend? Ms. Gust-Jenson indicated that one member of the
Council Staff would attend the meeting.
