06/08/2010 - Minutes PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 2010 The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 7 : 00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council Chambers, City County Building, 451 South State . The following Council Members were present: Carlton Christensen Stan Penfold Van Turner Jill Remington Love Soren Simonsen Luke Garrott JT Martin Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Ralph Chamness, Senior City Attorney; Mayor Ralph Becker; and Scott Crandall, Deputy City Recorder; were present. Councilmember Martin presided at and Councilmember Love conducted the meeting. OPENING CEREMONY #1 . 7:01:53PM The Council led the Pledge of Allegiance . #2 . 7:02:18PM Councilmember Turner moved and Councilmember Penfold seconded to approve the minutes for the Salt Lake City Council meeting held June 1, 2010, which motion carried, all members voted aye, except Council Members Garrott and Simonsen, who were absent for the vote. RE: 7:02:47PM Continue to accept public comment and consider an ordinance adopting the Salt Lake City Historic Preservation Plan pursuant to Petition No. PLNPCM2009-00171 . View Attachments Douglas Cotant said developers needed to be banned from damaging historic preservation properties . Cindy Cromer spoke about opportunities to expand/remodel historic buildings and create new districts . Councilmember Christensen moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded to continue the hearing to July 6, 2010, which motion carried, all members voted aye . (T 10-3) #2 . RE: 7:07:52PM Continue to accept public comment and consider adopting an ordinance to adopt the final budget and related ordinances, excluding the budget for the Library Fund which is separately adopted, and the employment staffing document for Salt Lake City, Utah for 10 - 1 PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH TUESDAY, JUNE 8 , 2010 Fiscal Year 2010-2011 . (Note : The Council will hold a combined Public Hearing on Items C2-C22 , which will address all issues associated with the 2010-2011 Budget, including the Library Fund) . Randy Curtis , Shawky Taha, Saadi Mandi and Abdul Ahmad spoke in opposition to the proposed changes/fee increase relating to ground transportation. Craig Vargo spoke in opposition of removing the "Professional Employees Council" (PEC) reference from the compensation plan. Councilmember Christensen moved and Councilmember Martin seconded to close the public hearing and defer action to June 15, 2010 (Items C2-C22) , which motion carried, all members voted aye .
