03/01/2005 - Minutes (2) PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH WORK SESSION TUESDAY, MARCH 1 , 2005 The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in a Work Session on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at 5 : 30 p.m. in Room 326, City Council Office, City County Building, 451 South State Street. Council Chair Lambert presided at and conducted the meeting. The meeting was called to order at 5 : 41 p.m. #1 . 5 : 42 : 02 PM INTERVIEW LOUIS ZUNGUZE PRIOR TO ADVICE AND CONSENT OF HIS APPOINTMENT AS THE DIRECTOR OF SALT LAKE CITY DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. Councilmember Lambert said Mr . Zunguze' s name would be forwarded to the Consent Agenda. #2 . 6: 51 : 43 PM RECEIVE A BRIEFING REGARDING AN INTERLOCAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN SALT LAKE CITY, SANDY CITY AND THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SALT LAKE CITY AND SANDY ON THE 05 - 1 PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH WORK SESSION TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 2005 ACQUISITION OF NEW WATER SOURCES FROM THE UTAH LAKE SYSTEM (ULS) View Attachments LeRoy Hooton, Jeff Niermeyer and Gary Mumford briefed the Council with the attached handout . Mr. Niermeyer said the projected water demand came from a study done by the Central Utah Project looking at all communities in Utah and Salt Lake counties . Mr. Hooton said the cost estimate was approximately a $1 million per year. Mr. Hooton asked the Council to move the interlocal forward in a few weeks in order to accommodate the new City of Holliday. #3 . 5 : 57 : 41 PM RECEIVE A BRIEFING REGARDING THE POLICE OPERATION BUREAU. Chief Dinse, Carroll Mays, Don Llewellyn, Jerry Burton, Jack Richards and Gary Mumford briefed the Council with the attached handout . View Attachments #4 . This issue was not discussed. #5 . 7:16:10 PM CONSIDER A MOTION TO ENTER INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION, IN KEEPING WITH UTAH CODE TO DISCUSS LABOR NEGOTIATIONS, PURSUANT TO UTAH CODE ANN. §§ 52-4-4, 52-4-5 (1) (a) (ii) . Councilmember Saxton moved and Councilmember Buhler seconded to enter into Executive Session, motion carried, all members voted aye . #6 . REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, INCLUDING REVIEW OF COUNCIL INFORMATION ITEMS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. Councilmember Love reported on District Five' s Legacy project . She said one portion of the project was improvements to a small section of the McClelland Trail . She said the trail started at 1300 South and ended at Inglewood Park. She said the contractor wanted to move forward with bids and quotes . She said this improvement would cost approximately $30, 000 . She said she would bring locations of other benches back to the Council at a later date . Councilmember Lambert asked for a straw poll to support Councilmember Love' s project . All Council Members were in favor of the project . Councilmember Buhler reported on the District Six Legacy project .
