TUESDAY, MAY 25, 2010
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session on
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 2 : 00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council Chambers,
City County Building, 451 South State .
The following Council Members were present:
Carlton Christensen Stan Penfold Van Turner
Jill Remington Love Soren Simonsen Luke Garrott
JT Martin
Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Edwin Rutan, City
Attorney; David Everitt, Mayor' s Chief of Staff; and Scott Crandall,
Deputy City Recorder; were present.
Councilmember Martin presided at and conducted the meeting.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
#1 . RE: 8:06:19 PM Requesting that the Administration hold a
hearing at 6: 15 p.m. on June 8, 2010 regarding a proposed sale of
approximately three acres of property at Rose Park Golf Course.

Councilmember Christensen moved and Councilmember Love seconded to
not hold a hearing.
Councilmember Simonsen made a substitute motion seconded by
Councilmember Garrott to hold a hearing.
8:07:19PM Comments by Council Members/Administrative staff included
exemption from zoning regulations, need for additional public input,
regulate/mitigate potential impacts through development or sales
agreement, property sales function of Executive Branch, approval
recommended by community council, impact of proposal on future sites,
Council limited to advisory opinion or recommendation, first right of
refusal option, include reverter clause in sale agreement, public given
adequate outreach/hearing opportunities, allow public to review and
comment on purchase and sale agreement, incorporate community concerns
in agreement, address potential traffic issues, potential conflict of
interest and develop comprehensive open space policy guidelines .
8:20:53 PM Councilmember Martin called for the question on the
substitute motion. A roll call vote was taken. Council Members
Garrott, Simonsen and Turner voted aye . Council Members Love, Penfold,
Christensen and Martin voted nay.

motion. A roll call vote was taken. Council Members Christensen,
