JOINT MEETING
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2005
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah met in Joint Session with the
Salt Lake City School Board on Thursday, October 6, 2005, at 4 : 00 p.m.
in Room 326, Committee Room, City County Building, 451 South State
Street.
In Attendance : Council Members Carlton Christensen, Van Turner, Eric
Jergensen, Nancy Saxton, Jill Remington Love, Dave Buhler, and Dale
Lambert. School Board Members : Clifford Higbee, Alama Uluave, Douglas
Nelson, John deJong, Heather Bennett and Laurel Heath.
Absent: School Board Member Kristi Swett
Also In Attendance : Mayor Ross C. "Rocky" Anderson; Cindy Gust-Jenson,
Executive Council Director; Rocky Fluhart, Management Services Chief
Administrative Officer; Jennifer Bruno, Council Policy Analyst; Lehua
Weaver, Council Constituent Liaison; Sam Guevara, Mayor' s Chief of
Staff; Russell Weeks, Council Policy Analyst; Dr. McKell Withers,
School District Superintendent; Janice Jardine, Council Land Use Policy
Analyst; Dr. Charles Hauseman, Associate School District Superintendent
of Learning Services; Kent Stephens, School District Business
Administrator; Jason Olsen, School District Public Information Officer;
Kathleen Christy, Assistant to the School District Superintendent; and
Scott Crandall, Deputy Recorder.
Councilmember Lambert presided at and conducted the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 4 : 13 p.m.

Board Member Nelson asked the Council to keep the Board informed
about any changes to the Mt. Olivet property.
The Council asked for feedback on ways to better utilize City
police and fire personnel and reduce traffic congestion at Emerson and
other school locations .
Discussion was held on holding annual meetings and creating a
joint subcommittee to address areas of concern.
The meeting adjourned at 5 : 31 p.m.
