TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2008
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session
on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 7 : 00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council
Chambers, City County Building, 451 South State.
The following Council Members were present:
Carlton Christensen Soren Simonsen Luke Garrott
Jill Remington Love Eric Jergensen
The following Council Members were absent:
Van Turner JT Martin
Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Lyn Creswell,
Mayor' s Chief Administrative Officer; Edwin Rutan, City Attorney; and
Beverly Jones, Deputy City Recorder, were present.
Councilmember Love presided at and conducted the meeting.
#1 . 7:22:46PM The Council led the Pledge of Allegiance .
#2 . 7:24:05 PM Councilmember Sorensen moved and Councilmember
Garrott seconded to approve the minutes for the Salt Lake City Council
meeting held August 19, 2008, which motion carried, all members present

#1. 7:24:15PM RE: Accept public comment and consider adopting an
ordinance closing and abandoning a portion of 4145 West from 700 South
to the Union Pacific right-of-way pursuant to Petition No. 400-07-24

Councilmember Jergensen moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded
to close the public hearing, which motion carried, all members present
voted aye .
Councilmember Jergensen moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded
to adopt Ordinance 74 of 2008, which motion carried, all members
present voted aye .

seconded to adopt Ordinance 75 of 2008, which motion carried, all
members present voted aye .

Cindy Cromar spoke on the University' s Project Universe . Gary
Baker spoke on 800 South power lines.
Kerry Doane submitted a hearing card in support of the proposed
ordinance for buses crossing bike lanes but did not wish to speak.

CONSENT AGENDA 7:31:18 PM
Councilmember Jergensen moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded
to approve the Consent Agenda, which motion carried, all members
present voted aye .
#1 . RE : Requesting that the Administration not hold a hearing at
5 : 00 p.m. on September 9, 2008 regarding a request to convey title in a
portion of Jordan and Salt Lake Canal property (9680 South Monroe
Street) in excess of the City' s needs and to lease an additional area
of the canal . The developer (Sequoia Development, Inc. ) has proposed
the installation of a box culvert in the canal to then use the surface
as part of the required parking for a new hotel .
