FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2020
The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Special Formal Session
on Friday, January 17, 2020 in Room 326, Committee Room, City County
Building, 451 South State .
The following Council Members were present :
James Rogers Chris Wharton Analia Valdemoros
Amy Fowler Andrew Johnston Daniel Dugan
Cindy Gust-Jenson, Council Executive Director; Erin Mendenhall,
Mayor; Rachel Otto, Mayor' s Chief of Staff; Katherine Lewis, City
Attorney; and Scott Crandall, Deputy City Recorder; were present .
Councilmember Wharton presided at and conducted the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 5 : 09 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS
#1. 5:09:02 PM Adopting an ordinance enacting a temporary land use
regulation to allow temporary overflow homeless shelter at approximately
2234 South Highland Drive . View Attachment
Councilmember Rogers moved and Councilmember Johnston seconded to
adopt Ordinance 1 of 2020, enacting temporary zoning regulations
authorizing overflow homeless shelter use at approximately 2234 South
Highland Drive, which motion carried, all members voted aye.
Councilmember Wharton thanked everyone who worked on the proposal
and provided support (Mayor/Staff, County, State, service providers,
community organizations, etc . ) . He said he echoed comments/concerns made
during the prior meeting and encouraged the public/others who were
interested in donating, volunteering, or searching for information to
visit the City' s website at : www. slc.gov/temporary-shelter.
