The meeting was called to order at 5:38 pm.

Commissioner Lopez welcomed all in attendance and spoke to the petition circulating with the
Community Councils concern over their boundaries changing and who was involved in the
petition process.

•Commission Member Vander Most Draft Redistricting Maps
•Commission Member Cannon Redistricting Map for Districts Five and Six
Wasatch Hollow Boundaries
Minutes:
Commissioner Vander Most reviewed the Draft Redistricting Maps as presented in the meeting
materials.
Commissioners discussed the following:
•The alignment of the proposed boundaries and what was driving the changes.
•The considerations such as future voters or house size that were taken when creating the
maps
•How each map did or didn’t affect the overall boundaries of each district.
•Properties around the University of Utah that are University properties should be kept in
the same boundary.
Commissioner Cannon reviewed the Politely Compact map as presented in the meeting
materials.
Commissioners discussed the following:
•The reasoning behind the alignment along 15th and 15th .
•Showed the least changes for any of the district as they are drawn
•The components presented in this map could be added to other maps that have been
presented
•The growth in the City and how it affects the district boundaries
Commissioners discussed the process of incorporating changes from various maps into one
map to bring about a map that works best for everyone,the best boundaries for the
Fairpark and surrounding areas,creating small groups to visit areas of the City which would
provide clarity of how neighborhoods fit in to their boundaries.Commissioners discussed the
proper way to communicate with each other and remain transparent,adding a meeting on
April 7 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm,holding additional meetings another day of the week,
Ben Luedtke and Hassan Abdi will send a poll to the Commission on additional dates to hold
meetings and the contact information for everyone on the Commission.
