9/14/2022 - Meeting Minutes MINUTES FOR THE BUSINESS ADVISORY BOARD Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 8:30 a.m. -10:00 a.m. 1, Darin Piccoli, Chair of the Business Advisory Board(BAB), hereby determine that conducting the Business Advisory Board meeting at an anchor location presents a substantial risk to the health and safety of those who may be present. 1. Roll Call The following members of the Business Advisory Board were present: Darin Piccoli, Chair Scott Lyttle Pook Carson Andy Robertson Abudujannah Soud Jocelyn Kearl Sue Rice Karen Gunn The following members of the Business Advisory Board were absent: Jeff Carleton, Vice-Chair Alfonso Brito Also Present: Veronica Cavanagh, Department of Economic Development; Roberta Reichgelt, Department of Economic Development; Will Wright, Department of Economic Development; Cathie Rigby, Department of Economic Development; Peter Makowski: Department of Economic Development, Andie Feldman: Department of Economic Development; Brittney Hemingway, Department of Economic Development; Katie Matheson, Department of Economic Development; Lindsey Day, Department of Economic Development; Allison Rowland, Salt Lake City Council Office; James McCormack, Building Services. 2. Briefings by the Staff New Building Services Liaison of Economic Development Ms. Reichgelt introduced James McCormack as the new Building Services Division. Mr. McCormack explained that he is constantly monitoring City permit requests and has already been in contact with business owners whose permits are on hold. ARPA Community Grant Program Ms. Reichgelt explained that the ARPA Community Grants Program application process is now open. She stated this program is great for any business that were not eligible for the PPP loans. Then end date for the application process is September 30th. Ms. Reichgelt thanked BAB member, Ms. Carson, for being involved in the review committee for the applications. 3. Approval of the minutes None. 4. Business A. Outdoor Dining Grants Ms. Reichgelt said the Outdoor Dining Grant Program was approved by Council and that Economic Development staff plan to launch the program in the next couple of months. She stated that she would notify BAB members once the program is open. Mr. Makowski provided a presentation on the Outdoor Dining Grants Program guidelines. Outdoor Dining Grant Guidelines: • Grant Amounts • $5000 for outdoor dining/retail, $10,000 for Open Streets events • Use of Funds • Outdoor dining/retail furniture, fixtures and equipment • City fees • Open Streets events • Eligibility • Located in SLC • Current SLC Business License • Fixed location—restaurant, bar, in-person retail • Reimbursement of expenses as of April 1, 2021 • Application • Online,paper, multilingual • Review Criteria 0 Eligibility • Required documentation • Availability of funds B. Dept of Economic Development Marketing Program Updates and Engagement Ms. Katie Matheson provided an overview on the Department's marketing efforts and business engagement. Her presentation included a summary of. Structure and stability,new branding, newsletter& emails, site visits, events, earned media, social media, and project support for the Department of Economic Development. 5.
