Please observe the time limit stated at the beginning of the public comment period so everyone may have a chance to speak. •Per the public meeting guidelines, keep comments free of discriminatory language referring to a person or group based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, color, descent, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or other gender identity factor. Items or comments that disrupt the meeting, intimidate other participants or that may cause safety concerns are not allowed. 4.CEDAW Draft Ordinance Vote of Support (15 minutes) •The CEDAW Subcommittee will present the draft ordinance. After which, the commission will vote whether to support this CEDAW ordinance draft to send to the mayor and attorney’s office. 5.Legislative Update (15 minutes) •Review bills that affect Salt Lake City and Human Rights 6.Winter Shelter Update •Discuss open and end date of the Ramada Inn (Andrew Johnston’s email) 7.Review Goals & Priorities (15 minutes) 3 •Subcommittees i.New Americans and Refugees: Doumbia, Stowell, and any volunteers ii.CEDAW: Wessel, Salazar-Hall •Please see agenda item 4 iii.Gentrification: Doumbia, Stowell, and Garcia •Follow-up in March w/Gentrification group iv.Homelessness: Stowell, Wessel, and Garcia •Please see agenda item 5-6 8.Discussion/Dialogue about Human Rights Around the World (5-10 minutes) During this portion of the meeting, Commissioners may raise topics and discuss current events that may impact or influence the Commission’s overall work, discussions, and deliberations to provide recommendations to the Mayor and City Council . No action will be taken during this section of the meeting. Minutes are provided in conjunction with the video/audio file. Wessel, C. Salazar-Hall, C. Kelly •Subcommittee will meet with UN Women’s Utah Chapter to finalize CEDAW Ordinance Recommendations to the Commission ii.Gentrification: C. Doumbia, C. Kelly, C. Will have more in February meeting. 7.Discussion/Dialogue about Human Rights Around the World (5-10 minutes) -Human Rights violations in Mali, Ethiopia, and Myanmar -Extradition of WikiLeaks man who is now a suicide risk is in solitary confinement. British government has now allowed to be sent to United States, will face espionage chargers, this will affect freedom speech – C. Wessel -What about indigenous rights in the United States? In Utah? Any litigation? – C.
