The Racial Equity in Policing Commission met in an electronic and in-person meeting. Minutes are
provided in conjunction with the video/audio file.

The meeting was called to order at 5:36 PM

No discussion occurred during this meeting.

4. Approve and Adopt Minutes

• Commissioner Rev. Davis made the motion to approve and adopt minutes. Commissioner
Johnson seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.
5. SLCPD Chief Update (~25 minutes)
Chief Brown may provide update to commission
- 2022 End of Year Update
o Chief Brown thanked the Commissioners for all their recommendations and
provided an update of progress from Phase I up to date.
6. Approve Final End of Year Report (~25 minutes)
The commission will vote on the end of year report.
• Commissioner Johnson made a motion to approve end of year report. Commissioner Rev.
Davis seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.
7. Subcommittee Chair Updates (~ 5 minutes)
a. Training – First Monday of the Month 5:30-6pm
b. Policy & Practices – Second Monday of the Month at 4-5pm
c. School Safety – Third Monday of the Month at 4-5pm
d. Application Review – Meets as needed
8. Farewell to Outgoing Commissioners
a. Rev. France Davis
b. Steve Anjewierden
i. The Commission has voted to extend his time on REP to fulfill the duties
related to the participation on the Community Recovery Committee,
which needs involvement in another commission.
c. Samantha Eldridge
d. Steven Johnson
9. TENTATIVE Closed Session
The Commission will consider a motion to enter into a Closed Session. A closed meeting
described under Section 52-4-205 may be held for specific purposes including, but not limited to:
a. discussion of the character, professional competence, or physical or me ntal health
of an individual;
b. strategy sessions to discuss pending or reasonably imminent litigation;
c. discussion regarding deployment of security personnel, devices, or systems; and
d. investigative proceedings regarding allegations of criminal misconduct.
A closed meeting may also be held for attorney-client matters that are privileged pursuant to Utah
Code § 78B-1-137, and for other lawful purposes that satisfy the pertinent requirements of the
Utah Open and Public Meetings Act.
