Dear Mayor Mendenhall,
The Human Rights Commission has reviewed applications and would like to recommend Emily
Khan to become a commissioner for District 7. We believe that Emily will bring another unique
and necessary perspective to the commission. Emily identifies as part of the Indigenous/Native
American community, which is a population that the Commission could strengthen their
relationships with. She also brings forth a robust background in education with a wide range of
experiences in various communities across different states working to serve students from Pre-K
to 12th grade. In addition to her various roles in schools, Emily has also worked as a consultant
and independent contractor to work on projects related to educational needs or professional
development for schools and organizations. In align with the Commission’s work, Emily has
demonstrated her commitment to equity and inclusivity by facilitating presentations on related
topics for several conferences and various trainings.
On behalf of the Human Rights Commission, we recommend Emily Khan. Please review the
attached file for her application and resume. If you have any questions, please follow up with
Michelle Mooney, Equity Manager.
Sincerely,
