III. Management
Wake the Great Salt Lake Website. First event at Westminster.
Kellie Bornhoft made fabric flags of 64 plants and animals from the GSL ecosystem. They are purposefully tattered
and worn.Working with scientists like Bonnie Baxter.
Potential artists(very talented)will be coming on visits soon and some board members may be invited to an Art
Design Committee position.
Ms. Baca reported she is closing in on the fundraising goal for the Wake the Great Salt Lake event.
The first exhibition will be traveling to 5-6 venues.
Ms.Baca visited Matsumoto,Japan,which is Salt Lake City's sister city,with a contingent from the City.Many
greetings/receptions/rituals to celebrate the exchanges, especially students over time.Matsumoto is similar in size
and geography to SLC. Lots of diplomacy and idea exchanges.
Matthew Mazzotta for Glendale Regional Park, first big park for the valley in years. He is a prestigious artist who
loved the idea of this project so applied and conducted living room sessions in the park to gather interest and
feedback from the public.Matthewmazzotta.com for videos, highlighting blighted properties. He will be designing
the project with the residents of the neighborhood.
Part-time Marketing position has turned over again. Now brainstorming different ideas than hiring another part-
time person.
IV. Budget/Financial
Review of Financials—Caitlin Tursic
Ms.Tursic provides a review of the financials.Revenue highlight was some money from Twilight ticket sales. BIG
expense was grant payments.
Down from$2.6 to $2.3 million because of dispersing the grants. Did not tap the reserve fund in the last month.
Overall, the financials are in good standing.
Completed our financial audit and it is now with the City and we will discuss in December.
V. Board
Evaluation Review
This was the second annual evaluation after the inaugural questionnaire last year.
The responses, not completed by everyone, but were generally higher across the board.
Last year,Board asked for more presentations from across the City, which was accomplished.
Board ioi training may be upcoming.
More discussion and fewer agenda items: consistent for both years.
Other highlights: more participation, more linkages to staff/council's strategic plan through 2026,transparency,
more board attendance/invitations for Buskerfest,Wake the Great Lake, Finch Lane Gallery Stroll,Board-wide
calendar and invite system to obtain more representation, onboarding should have happened for everyone; Board
mentor for new members to help them feel comfortable in meetings, responsibilities, interviews.
C-Moc Sandoval did a great job in front of the City Council with his introduction.Another strong candidate felt she
had a conflict of interest so dropped out.
VI. Public Comment
No public comment.
VII. Other Business
Ms. Nenbee moves to adjourn.
Ms.Tursic seconds.The motion passes unanimously.
