RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends the Council consider the
recommendation in the attached letter from the Mayor and appoint Ryan Canter a member of the

Listed below is my recommendation for the membership appointment for the Board
Appointment Recommendation: Arts Council Board.
Ryan Canter be appointed for a three year term starting from date of City Council advice and
consent. I respectfully ask for your consideration and support for this appointment.

The Nominating Committee of the Arts Council Board would like to forward for your approval and the
subsequent approval of the City Council, a new candidate for the Salt Lake City Arts Council Board of
Directors.
Ryan Canter is a dedicated physician and community leader with extensive experience in not only
healthcare, but education and cultural engagement. He is a passionate advocate for fostering creative
initiatives and building connections between arts, science and the community.
We believe Ryan’s visionary leadership makes him an ideal candidate to advance the mission of the
Salt Lake City Arts Council, and we are confident he will be an active and engaged contributor to the
Board. His application and resume are attached for your consideration.
