Call to Order and Welcome Guests&Introductions Introduced new Marketing and Digital Content Coordinator, Cayden Turnbow. A filmmaker,worked for S1amDance, attended University of Utah —we are all very excited to have him onboard! II. Mission Moment(Future events&SLC worthy recognition) Sign Up Sheet for SLCAC Events Update—the Marketing team created a sign-up sheet for the board to share upcoming events. Lana Taylor attended a photography exhibition at the Salt Lake Community College Campus (off State Street and between 151h and 171h south). The exhibit runs through the end of March and was a great collaboration between professors and students and title 1 schools. There is also a new mural there by Jann Haworth and Liberty Blake (Jann used to be a member of the Art Design board and is known for co-creating the cover of the Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Album. NCECA: many great ceramics shows around the valley include some at UMOCA and Chase Home and our very own Finch Lane Gallery. MISSION: To promote,present and support artists and arts organizations in order to facilitate the development of the arts and expand awareness, access, and engagement. III. Approve Board Meeting Minutes—February 2025 (Action) ivir. Driggs made a motion to approve the minutes— all in favor,the motion passes unanimously. u III. Management Program/Administrative Updates -Felicia Baca i. General Program Management Updates a. NCECA: in full swing, so many exhibitions around the city. Huge shout-out to Todd Obendorfer, Finch Lane Gallery Manager for the large lift getting the exhibition set. b. Living Traditions: all staff are hired, and volunteer signup is available. Very close to meeting fundraising goal. NEA grant for 2026 was just submitted,guidelines changed with new political environment. c. Wake the Great Salt Lake: Fisher Brewing to host the GSL Hope Line 6-9pm. We are proceeding with contract for signature commission, selection made, more details coming pending the signed contracts. d. Twilight Concert Series: a little bit slower start than other years but things are picking up and season tickets have seen an increase. Slightly cautious buyers but partners not concerned. ii. Legislative Session Updates a. Collective Bargaining Bill passed—unfortunate and impacting our whole city workforce and all government employees b. Utah Division of Arts and Museums —had a request for$2million for ongoing grants and were NOT granted request but received $book. c. Black and white license plate program which was a very successful fundraising initiative of the Historic Society was unfortunately transferred to the transportation department, will impact funding to the new state museum. d. Flags Government buildings: impacts team morale,board member commented that there are signatures being gathered for a referendum. iii. Torle Nenbee farewell a. We greatly appreciate Torle's impact and service on the board and will miss her! Wishing her all the best on her next adventure and move to Washington. IV. Budget/Financial Ms. Baca provided a review of the financials. We had a Living Traditions sponsorship come in,our ZAP grant came as expected every month. Expenses included payments for our Wake the Great Salt Lake Consultant and partnership with our Professional Development Courses/Springboard. We also show the expenses for Wake the Great Salt Lake hospitality artist visit and our Life on State event. Overall, the financials are in good standing. V. Board Nancy Bacon of Nonnprofit Learning Center provided a"Let's Talk Money"nonprofit financial basics training for our board. It reviewed roles, common terms,reading financial statements,cash flow, and included a team exercise. VI. Public Comment No public comment VII. Adjournment Ms.Taylor moved to close the meeting, all in favor. The motion passes unanimously. *The Salt Lake City Arts Council Board reserves the right to act on any agenda items.
