Time Adjourned: 4:12 PM BOARDS 1841 COMMISSIONS Salt Lake City Accessibility and Disability Commission Annual Report 2024 A Message from the Chair It was an honor to be elected and to serve as chairman of the Accessibility and Disability Commission for 2024. Thank you to all the members for your trust and encouragement. In particular, thank you Everette Bacon and Amy Carmen. You left the Commission in the best order, your leadership in 2023 set the benchmark for all of us to work toward. Thank you to Kristy Chambers for serving as Vice Chair this year and to Ashley Lichtle for your help and advice.Your willingness to serve make this commission possible. When it comes to Accessibility and Disability, the Commission members are the experts and 2024 was a year to get acquainted, make new friends, and explore their expertise. All have brought a unique set of experiences to the Commission meetings. The goals for 2025 as set forth in this document are ambitious but they are possible. I am looking forward to working together to accomplish each one. The Commission held a successful ADA Day event with about a dozen community organizations tabling the event and even more in attendance. The event also honored the SLC Public Lands Planning and Design Division with the inaugural "Going the Extra Mile" Award for their dedication to improving access throughout City green spaces. Commission Goals for 2025 I. Create a selection of accessibility and disability training topics for City departments to request in person trainings. II. Create a digital repository of on demand accessibility and disability trainings for City staff to access as desired. III. Continue to identify and address ways Salt Lake City can improve inclusion and accessibility for all. IV. Identify and address ways Salt Lake City can best serve people with disabilities experiencing homelessness. V. Improve City partnership with UTA's Paratransit Program to strengthen paratransit public education campaign and services. The Arts, Culture, and Entertainment (ACE) Grant was established to provide funding to support community events in Salt Lake City. . The fund supports large and small events, new and established events. • Last year, received 251 applications and funded 177 events (709,61 acceptance rate) . Events must take place within Salt Lake City during the 2026 calendar year. Available Funding • $10,000 Maximum, $500 Minimum • Typical Grants Range $ 1,000 - $5,000 0 E!::I ACE Grants are intended to be supplemental funding, no more than 50% of an event's total budget $300jOOO Available ACE Funds Prior funding does not guarantee funding each year.
