MINUTES:
Call to Order and Welcome Guests
• Mr.Coles called the meeting to order, and Ms. Baca introduced Chris Jensen from the Salt Lake Art
Museum.
Mission Moment(Future events&SLC worthy recognition)
• The board discussed the latest arts&culture events they have attended around the city and look forward to
attending in the future. Some events that were mentioned included the reopening of Seven Canyons Refuge,
the Ballpark mural celebration, SLC Design Week, Some Like It Hot and The Shining,Ballet Hispanico,the
MISSION: To promote,present and support artists and arts organizations in order to_facilitate the development of the
arts and expand awareness, access, and engagement.

Allies Gala,Trevor Dahl's mural,the indigenous market at the Natural History Museum,and the Bollywood
Abravanel Hall performance.
Approve Board Meeting Minutes
• Ms.Tursic motioned to approve the board minutes. Ms. Martinez seconded the motion. The motion
carried unanimously.
Management
Guest Speaker-Chris Jensen on the Salt Lake Art Museum
• Mr.Jensen provided an overview of the history,vision, and anticipated programming and exhibitions of
the new Salt Lake Art Museum.
• The museum is housed in the historic B'nai Israel Temple and was founded by Dr. Micah Christensen.
• The plan is to open in May 2026,but the space is currently being used for pop-up events, such as their
Utah Master Series.
• The vision is anchored in uplifting Salt Lake Artists and artists with a connection to Utah across various
mediums.
General Program Management Updates
• Ms. Baca provided updates across various Council programs and events.This included highlighting the
great work the team is doing on the Council's social media platforms.
• Ms. Baca noted the success of the recent Public Art ioi event,which drew approximately 5o attendees.
• Ms. Baca noted that two employees of the Blocks will be moving on to new opportunities, so those open
roles will soon be posted, and they represent an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals in the
community.
• Ms. Baca played the clip from PBS Newshour that highlighted all the great work the team has been
doing with Wake the Great Salt Lake.
• Ms. Cannon Alder led a brainstorming exercise for the board to come up with ideas,feedback, and funding
connections for the 4oth anniversary of Living Traditions.
Budget/Financial
• Ms.Tursic provided an overview of the September financials.Activity of note included recognizing
ticket sales revenue from S&S Presents related to Twilight,permitting costs for Living Traditions, and a
deposit for fabrication costs pertaining to our signature Wake the Great Salt Lake commission.No
concerns were noted.
• It was noted that the yearly audit is in progress,with the intention to present it to the board in
December.
Board Work
• Ms. Baca provided a brief overview of the results of the annual board survey. It was noted that overall,
there was an increase in scores across the categories. Based on the results,there will be an effort to
ensure there is a clearer articulation of the connection between programs/initiatives and the strategic
plan, as well as noting where board work starts/ends.
• It was discussed that the approach to reviewing grants is also still being finessed.
• Lastly, it was noted that the board is welcome to raise issues related to the arts as they pertain to larger
community/city happenings.That will allow us to discuss and identify ways that the Arts Council can be
a part of the conversation as the city continues to change/evolve.

• No public comments were given.

Other Business
• It was noted that Mr. Pedersen still needed to be formally approved to sit on the Conservancy
committee.
Ms. Davis motioned to end the meeting, and Ms.Nielsen seconded. The motion was approved unanimously,
and the meeting was adjourned.
