The board also helps direct City economic policy, promote small business growth, support local entrepreneurship, and assist the City in remaining responsive to the business community. Business Advisory Board meetings are held in a hybrid meeting format. Board Members and staff may participate through an online format, and members of the public may join in person at the City & County Building: 451 South State Street, Room 335, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Roll Call 2. Approval of the minutes a. Review and Approval of March 12, 2025, BAB Minutes BAB members will review the March 12th, 2025, meeting minutes and consider for approval. 3. Briefings by the Staff 5 minutes a. Report from the Deputy Director. Mr. Makowski will provide updates on the work of the Department of Economic Development to the Board. 4. Business Items a. Salt Lake City Police Department Update 10 minutes Commander Bill Manzanares or Lieutenant Jeffrey North will provide an update from the Police Department to the Board. b. Introduction to Blake Thomas, Senior Advisor of Real Estate and Capital Projects 20 minutes Blake Thomas, Senior Advisor of Real Estate and Capital Projects, will introduce himself to the Board, provide an overview of his position, and answer questions from the Board. c. Fleet Block Update 20 minutes Tammy Hunsaker, Director of Community & Neighborhoods, or Logan Hunt, Real Estate Services Manager will provide an update on the Fleet Block to the Board. d. Public Safety Plan – BAB Member 10 minutes 5. City Council Announcements – Austin Kimmel 10 minutes a. Budget Amendment No. 5: Construction Mitigation Funding. The Council is considering an ordinance amending the FY25 City budget. Among other items, Budget Amendment 5 includes $270,000 in addition funding for Construction Mitigation due to higher-than-anticipated demand. The funding would allow an additional 90 small businesses to receive grants. b. Salt Lake City Central Business Improvement Area (CBIA-25) Update. On April 1, the Council approved the re-establishment of the Salt Lake City Central Business Improvement Area special assessment to support downtown economic promotion and the area’s holiday lighting program. c. The Council Ranked Choice Voting The Council confirmed that the upcoming municipal election will use the Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) method. The Council’s action also confirmed that there will not be a Primary election. d. FY26 Budget The Council is nearing budget season after the Mayor presents her budget during the first Tuesday in May.
