HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/09/2025 - Meeting Agenda (2)REGULAR MEETING OF THE BUSINESS ADVISORY BOARD July 9, 2025 451 S State Street, Room 118 Salt Lake City, Utah 84111 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Housed in the Department of Economic Development, the Business Advisory Board seeks to encourage economic development and target industry relocation within City boundaries. The board also helps direct City economic policy, promote small business growth, support local entrepreneurship, and assist the City in remaining responsive to the business community. Business Advisory Board meetings are held in a hybrid meeting format. Board Members and staff may participate through an online format, and members of the public may join in person at the City & County Building: 451 South State Street, Room 335, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Approval of the minutes a.Review and Approval of June 11, 2025, BAB Minutes BAB members will review the June 11, 2025, meeting minutes and consider for approval. 3.Briefing by SLCPD Commander Bill Manzanares or Lieutenant Jeffrey North from the Salt Lake City Police Department will provide an update to and answer questions from the Board 4. Briefings by the Staff 5 minutes a. Report from the Deputy Director. Mr. Makowski will introduce Colin Gibbs, Business Development Division Director, and Liz Ward, Business Development Project Manager, and provide updates on the work of the Department of Economic Development to the Board. 5. Business Items a. Open Meetings Act Training 10 minutes Sara Montoya, Senior City Attorney, will answer questions from the Board after viewing a brief Open Meetings Act training video. b. Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco – Salt Lake City Branch 20 minutes Abbey McLennana, Vice President and Regional Executive, Salt Lake City, will discuss current and emerging issues of importance and focus with the Board. c. Northpoint Small Area Plan 20 minutes Krissy Gilmore, Planning Manager, will present the City’s Northpoint Small Area Plan to the Board 6. City Council Announcements – Austin Kimmel 10 minutes a. Commercial & Mixed-Use Zoning District Consolidation The Council continues to discuss the Mixed-Use (MU) Zoning Consolidation Zoning Text and Map Amendment. This is the proposal to update SLC’s zoning code by combining up to 27 commercial and mixed-use zoning districts into six mixed-use (MU) districts to simplify zoning rules. b. Capital Improvement Program (CIP) As part of the annual budget, funding is set aside for the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The money is available for citywide community projects that improve public property. The Council is spending the next few weeks deliberating on the project requests and funding c. The Northeast Baseball Field at Riverside Park as The Neil Draper Field On July 8, the Council will consider a resolution to name the northeast baseball field at Riverside Park as the Neil Draper Field after Neil Draper, an engaged member of the community and business owner who passed away earlier this year. 7. BAB Member Announcements 5 minutes a. Next BAB meeting is on September 10. No BAB meeting in August.
