Home Food Production Grants
The purpose of the SLC Food Microgrant Program is to build an inclusive community around
healthy food choices where individuals living in Salt Lake City have many opportunities to
shape, participate in, and enjoy a sustainable, accessible, and resilient local food
environment.
Home Food Production Grants are intended to support individual residents, families, and
neighbors in growing or raising their own food. Grants provide $250 to Salt Lake City
residents to help buy supplies or access education opportunities for starting, continuing, or
expanding a food garden or other home food production project such as backyard chickens,
composting, fruit tree maintenance, or beekeeping.
Please review each assigned application for the Home Food Production Microgrant and give
an overall assessment of whether or not you would recommend the applicant receive
funding. Review and assess the application based on its content and how well it aligns with
the purpose of the grant program, not on its writing quality or answer length. Note any
concerns or questions you have about the application that may impact your
recommendation to fund the project.

Community Grants
The purpose of the SLC Food Microgrant Program is to build an inclusive community around
healthy food choices where individuals living in Salt Lake City have many opportunities to
shape, participate in, and enjoy a sustainable, accessible, and resilient local food
environment.
Community Grants are intended to support local community groups, organizations, and small
businesses in improving food access in Salt Lake City. Grants provide up to $5,000 to Salt
Lake City-based organizations to help buy equipment and supplies, access educational
opportunities, or support professional services or personnel compensation directly related to
the proposed project.
Please review each application for the Community Grant and give a score for each of the
below categories. Review and score based on the content of the application, the impact the
project will have toward food access, and how well the proposal aligns with the purpose of
the grant program, not on its writing quality. Questions related to the content, impact, and
goal alignment with the microgrant program of the proposed project will be weighted more
in the application's final score.
