Roll called by Commission Secretary Vanessa Nelson. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 5:30 PMCity & County Building 451 South State Street, Room 326 Salt Lake City, Utah 84111 Commissioners Present Carlton Getz,Vice Chair Alan Barnett, Commissioners Babs De Lay, Emoli Kearns, Taymour Semnani, Adrienne White, and Michael Commissioners Absent None City Staff in Attendance Amy Thompson Attorney Courtney Lords, Senior Planner Brooke Olson, and Administrative Assistant Vanessa SALT LAKE CITY | HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION 2 R E P O R T O F T H E C H A I R & V I C E -C H A I R Nothing was reported. R E P O R T O F T H E D I R E C T O R Planning Manager Amy Thompson announced the Historical Landmark Commission is seeking commissioners from Districts 1, 4, and 5. M E E T I N G M I N U T E S 1. Approval of the Minutes for February 5, 2026 Motion Semnani motioned to approve minutes. Kearns Vote Abrahamson, Barnett, De Lay, Getz, Kearns, McGrath, Semnani No: Abstained: White The motion passed. P U B L I C H E A R I N GS 2. New Construction at 228 W 600 N – Argyll Development, on behalf of the property owner, is requesting New Construction approval to develop a portion of the property located at the above listed address. The proposed infill development will consist of 4 new townhome units. The property contains an existing 8-unit multifamily residential building which will be preserved. The property is in the Capitol Hill Local Historic District and the RMF-35, Moderate Density Multi-Family Residential District. Located in Council District 3, represented by Chris Wharton. (Staff contact: Brooke Olson 801-535- 7118 or brooke.olson@slc.gov) Case Number PLNHLC2025-00555 Senior Planner Brooke Olson reviewed the new construction request as outlined in the staff report and stated staff is recommending approval. Public Hearing SALT LAKE CITY | HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION 3 Chair Getz opened the public hearing. • Cindy Cromer – resident, concerned with view by pedestrians and from the street, and the use of black on exteriors. • Barbara George – neighbor, opposes project and is concerned with design not fitting in with existing homes and the loss of privacy, specifically on the projects west side. Executive Session Commission and Staff discussed the following topics: • HVAC placement • Units will be rentals • Required landscape buffers • Orientation of the two buildings Motion Abrahamson approve Vote Abrahamson, Barnett, De Lay, Kearns, Semnani, White No: McGrath Abstained: Result The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:26 PM.
