A motion was made by Cyndy Miller and seconded by Theresa Foxley to approve the minutes of
February 16, 2022 as presented. All votes were affirmative; motion passed.
B. Director’s Report
Bill Wyatt, Executive Director, updated the Airport Advisory Board regarding current events.
Steve Price asked how the increased fuel prices were affecting the aviation industry.
Bill Wyatt explained jet fuel follows crude oil prices. Most airlines hedge their fuel so we could
see increased ticket prices later in the year.

Mike Williams, Airport Redevelopment Program (ARP) Director, presented an update on the

Mayor Burton asked when a tour could be scheduled for the Board.
Mike Williams indicated there will be a tour sometime in the summer.
D. Budget Presentation – Brian Butler, Chief Financial Officer
Brian Butler, Chief Financial Officer, presented the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget (presentation on
file.) Main points included were:

Cyndy Miller inquired to the increase in intergovernmental charges.
Brian Butler explained how a large portion of this number is increases to Police and Fire
approved by City Council last year.
John Bradshaw ask does SLC compare to other airport in per passenger costs.
Bill Wyatt responded in the past, SLC was a bargain. We are still well below average.
Mayor Burton inquired to a separate budget for SVA.
Brian Butler answered that this is a consolidated budget but can provide a separate break-down
for SVA.
Cyndy Miller reminded everyone that this budget is for an “airport system not for three separate
airports.
E. Call for Motion to Approve the Budget – Steve Price
Steve Price called for a motion for a vote for approval of FY2023 Budget. Upon a motion by
Cyndy Miller and seconded by Arlyn Bradshaw, the board approved the FY2023 Budget and
supports its presentation to the Mayor and City Council for acceptance. All votes were
affirmative.

“The Canyon”
Fun Facts: Quarterly Cleaning of The Canyon
No doubt the new airport has presented some new challenges when it comes to cleaning. Here's how
airport maintenance is keeping The Canyon artwork fins from becoming dingy.
Each fin takes about 20 minutes to clean.
Two employees are secured in a lift and are able to position it to service 2-3 fins at a time.
Each fin is cleaned by a vacuum with HEPA filters. Any spotting that is not able to be removed with the
vacuum is wiped with a magic eraser.
Various vacuum heads have been tested for cleaning the fins. A shorter vacuum head is easier to
move around the contour of the fins. The heads are placed on a lightweight extension pole.
Most of the cleaning has involved dust from the construction as well as the addition of tenant spaces.
The team recently worked Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30am cleaning 15-20 fins per
night.
