Housed in the Department of Economic Development, the Business Advisory Board seeks to encourage economic
development and target industry relocation within City boundaries. The board also helps direct City economic policy,
promote small business growth, support local entrepreneurship, and assist the City in remaining responsive to the business
community.
Business Advisory Board meetings are held in a hybrid meeting format. Board Members and staff may participate through
an online format, and members of the public may join in person at the City & County Building: 451 South State Street,
Room 335, Salt Lake City, UT 84111.

2. Approval of the minutes
a. Review and Approval of January 14, 2026, BAB Minutes
BAB members will review January 14, 2026, meeting minutes and consider for approval.
3. Briefing by SLCPD 5 minutes
The Salt Lake City Police Department will provide an update to the Board.
4. Briefings by the Staff 5 minutes
a. Report from the Director.
Economic Development staff will provide updates on the work of the Department
of Economic Development to the Board.
5. Business Items
a. Introduction and Welcome Councilmember Dugan 15 minutes
Councilmember Dugan will introduce himself to the Board and discuss his priorities
representing District 6 on City Council.
b. Salt Lake City Fire Department 15 minutes
Battalion Chief Tony Allred will provide an overview of Salt Lake City Fire to the Board
and engage the Board in discussion.
c. Japantown Overview 15 minutes
Lynne Ward, Japanese Church of Christ, and Rolen Yoshinaga, Salt Lake Buddhist Temple,
will provide an overview of Japantown and engage the Board in discussion.
d. Letter of Support for Harvey Milk Boulevard 5 minutes
The Legislative sub-committee will review a letter of support for Harvey Milk Boulevard
with the Board and consider for approval.
6. City Council Announcements – Austin Kimmel 5 minutes
a. The Grove Northwest Pipeline Building
b. Library Union
c. Zoning Map Amendment at Approximately 265 E 100 S
d. February 10 Council meeting updates:
i. EDLF program update from the Department of Economic Development
ii. Briefing about temporary street closure for the 2027 Temple Square reopening.
7. BAB Member Announcements 5 minutes
a. New board members will introduce themselves to the Board.
b. BAB member announcements.
