AN ORDINANCE ENACTING SECTION 32-6-6. 1 OF THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965 AS AMENDED, RELATING TO
CARRYING LOADED FIREARMS.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah :
SECTION 1. That Section 32-6-6. 1 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah 1965, as amended, relating to carrying
loaded firearms, be, and the same hereby is, enacted as follows:
Sec. 32-6-6. 1 Carrying Loaded Firearm Prohibited . ( 1 )
Carrying loaded firearm in vehicle or on street. It shall be
unlawful for any person to carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle or
on any public street within the corporate limits of. Salt Lake
City.
( 2) Definition. A firearm is deemed to be loaded when: ( a)
there is an unexpended cartridge, shell or projectile in the
firing position, except in the case of pistols and revolvers; (b)
revolvers and pistols shall be deemed loaded when the unexpended
cartridge, shell , or projectile is in a position that the manual
operation of any mechanis- once would cause the unexpended
cartridge, shell , or projectile to be fired; and (c) a muzzle
loading firearm is capped or primed and has a powder charge and
ball or shot in the barrel or cylinders.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect thirty ( 30 )
days after its first publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this loth day of January , 1984.
