No . 11 of 1987
(Handicapped Parking)
AN ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 51-9-5 TO THE REVISED ORDINANCES
OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, RELATING TO HANDICAPPED PARKING
SPACES, PURSUANT TO PETITION NO. 400-478-86.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah :
SECTION 1. That Section 51-9-5 be added to the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to Handicapped
Parking , and the same is hereby enacted to read as follows :
Sec . 51-9-5. Handicapped Parking Spaces. For a new
building or structure , or for the enlargement or increase in
capacity , floor area, or roans of an existing main building or
structure , there shall be created and maintained parking spaces
reserved for handicapped parking as those individuals and
vehicles are identified and described in Sections 41-1-4 9. 8 and
41-1-49. 9, Utah Code Annotated , in the following number:
Regular Required Parking Handicapped Spaces
0-12 0
13-5 0 1
51-100 2
101-2 00 3
201-400 4
For every additional 100 parking stalls otherwise required (or
portion of 100 ) above 400 required stalls , one additional handi-
capped parking stall is required .

Handicapped parking stalls shall be at least 13 feet wide
and marked with a visible upright sign and meet all other current
requirements. The handicapped parking stalls required by this
ordinance shall be reasonably accessible to handicapped
accessible entrances to the buildings served by the parking
spaces .
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication .
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this loth day of February , 1987 .
