No. 16 of 1996
(Rezoning properties located near the North Boundary of
the City east of Interstate 15 from Open Space "OS"
to Extractive Industries "EI")
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21A-11-2 OF THE SALT LAKE CITY
CODE RELATING TO ZONING AND FIXING OF BOUNDARIES OF ZONING
DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, in response to its own initiative, the City Council
of Salt Lake City, Utah has held public hearings before its own
body and before the Planning Commission, and has taken into
consideration citizen testimony, filing and demographic details
of the area and the Master Plan as part of its deliberation.
Pursuant to these deliberations, the Council has concluded that
the proposed change of zoning for the properties located near the
North Boundary .of the City east of Interstate 15 from Open Space
"OS" to Extractive Industries "EI") is appropriate for the
development of the community in that area; and
THEREFORE, the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah hereby
adopts the following amendments to the Zoning Map provisions of
Title 21A.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Map, as adopted by Section
21A.11.2 of the Salt Lake City Code, relating to the fixing of
boundaries of Zoning Districts, be, and the same hereby is,
AMENDED to read as follows:
Sec. 21A.11.2 ZONING MAP.
That the parcels of real property described in Exhibit "A"
in Salt Lake City, Utah presently zoned Open Space "OS" are
hereby rezoned Extractive Industry "EI" and the Zoning Map is
amended accordingly.
SECTION 2. CONDITIONS. This ordinance shall not become
effective until the Mayor has accepted the reclamation plan,
including financial security, for the sand and gravel mining on
the property to be rezoned.
SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall take
effect immediately upon the date of its being first published and
recorded with the Salt Lake County Recorder. The City Recorder
is instructed to not record or publish this ordinance until the
Mayor has certified that the conditions specified in Section 2
above have been met. In the event that the condition has not
been met within one year from the date of this ordinance, the
Mayor may extend the time for performance by an additional year.

If the condition has not been met within the time permitted by
this ordinance, the City Recorder is instructed to not record or
publish the ordinance which shall become null, void and of no
effect.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
