028 of 1994 - Airport Ground Transportation Vehicle Fees0 94-1 0 94-3 SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE No. 28 of 1994 (Airport Ground Transportation Vehicle Fees) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 16.60.110 OF THE SALT LAKE CITY CODE, 1988, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO AIRPORT GROUND TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE FEES. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: Section 1. That Section 16.60.110 of the Salt Lake City Code, 1988, as amended, relating to Airport Ground Transportation Vehicle Fees, be amended to provide that ground transportation vehicles now be assessed a charge equal to 80% of the cost allocated to each such vehicle for operating the Airport's ground transportation system, and that taxicabs be assessed a surcharge in connection with mitigating the expenses of converting to taximeters that are integrated with the Airport's new Automated Vehicle Identification ("AVI") system. This one-time conversion to integrated taximeters will take place during a 120 day period following passage of this ordinance, and this ordinance is passed in connection with amendments to 16.60.130 to require that taximeters be compatible in the future. This conversion to integrated taximeters will permit the Airport to operate the AVI system and manage ground transportation facilities in a cost effective manner for the benefit of the traveling public, while avoiding undue expenses to system users. Section 16.60.1 10 is thus hereby amended to read as follows: 16.60.110 Fees and per use charges. A. All ground transportation vehicles shall use the airport's commercial ground transportation lanes and shall be subject to a per use fee. Beginning January 1, 1992, use of the ground transportation lanes shall include pickup and drop-off of passengers. B. There are hereby established the following fees for the following time periods: Type of Vehicle Per Use Charge from June 1, 1994 Automobile or station wagon $ .35 Limousine .50 Taxicab .40 Courtesy car .50 Van .50 Minibus .75 Bus 1.00 C. With advice and counsel from the airport authority advisory board, the director of airports may establish the methods of payment and collection of the fee.
