SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE
No. 28 of 1994
(Airport Ground Transportation Vehicle Fees)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 16.60.110 OF THE SALT LAKE CITY
CODE, 1988, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO AIRPORT GROUND TRANSPORTATION
VEHICLE FEES.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
Section 1. That Section 16.60.110 of the Salt Lake City Code, 1988, as
amended, relating to Airport Ground Transportation Vehicle Fees, be amended to
provide that ground transportation vehicles now be assessed a charge equal to 80%
of the cost allocated to each such vehicle for operating the Airport's ground
transportation system, and that taxicabs be assessed a surcharge in connection with
mitigating the expenses of converting to taximeters that are integrated with the
Airport's new Automated Vehicle Identification ("AVI") system. This one-time
conversion to integrated taximeters will take place during a 120 day period following
passage of this ordinance, and this ordinance is passed in connection with
amendments to 16.60.130 to require that taximeters be compatible in the future.
This conversion to integrated taximeters will permit the Airport to operate the AVI
system and manage ground transportation facilities in a cost effective manner for the
benefit of the traveling public, while avoiding undue expenses to system users.
Section 16.60.1 10 is thus hereby amended to read as follows:
16.60.110 Fees and per use charges.
A. All ground transportation vehicles shall use the airport's commercial
ground transportation lanes and shall be subject to a per use fee. Beginning January
1, 1992, use of the ground transportation lanes shall include pickup and drop-off of
