SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE
No. 3 of 1983
(Northwest Quadrant—Annexation #1 and Zoning )
AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE LIMITS OF SALT LAKE CITY TO
INCLUDE THE "NORTHWEST QUADRANT ANNEX #1 " ; ZONING THE SAME
INDUSTRIAL "M-1A" AND AGRICULTURAL "A-1" BY AMENDING THE USE
DISTRICT MAP AS ADOPTED BY SECTION 51-12-2 OF THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965; AND SPECIFYING
CONDITIONS OF SAID ANNEXATION.
WHEREAS, there has been filed with the City Recorder of Salt
Lake City, Petition Nos. 94-82, 180-82, 203-82, 277-82 and
298-82 , together with plats showing the tracts of land to be
annexed and hereafter known collectively as the "Northwest
Quadrant Annex #1 " , requesting that the tract of land hereinafter
described, be taken within the limits of Salt Lake City
Corporation; and
WHEREAS, the Petitions are signed by a majority of the
owners of the real property and the owners of more than one-third
in value of all the real property, as shown by the last assess-
ment rolls, situated in the tracts hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, the petitioners have caused accurate plats or maps
to be made and certified by the City Engineer, to be filed with
the C i ty Recorder; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, on the
9th day of November, 1982, passed Resolution No. 103 of 1982,
accepting said petitions for purposes of review and hearings; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Salt Lake City, after examining
said Petitions, having said Petitions reviewed by various depart-
ments of the City, having considered the circumstances thereof at
a publicly advertised hearing held January 11 , 1983, and after
finding said proposed extension or annexation to be consistent
and in keeping with its Master Annexation Policy Declaration
being an enlargement of and subpart of Area 1 of said Declaration
as amended on January 11 , 1983, said Council voted by a 2/3 vote
of all of its members present, in favor of said annexation; and
WHEREAS, no objection or contest to such annexation or
amendment to the Policy Declaration has been filed as regvired by
law;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Salt
Lake City, Utah;
SECTION 1 . AREA. That the City limits of Salt Lake City,
be, and the same hereby are, enlarged and extended so as to
include the following tracts of land in Salt Lake County , Utah:
Tract 1
A parcel of land located in Township 1 South, Range 2
West, Salt Lake Base & Meridian, being more particu-
larly described as follows :
The NW 1/4 of the NW '1/4 of Section 2, all of Sections
3 and 4, the NE 1/4 of Section 5, the NW 1/4 of the NW
1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 11 , together with the NE
1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 11 , and that portion of
the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 11 north of the

existing Western Pacific Railroad right-of-way,
containing approximately 1 ,533 acres.
Tract 2
A parcel of land located in Township 1 North, Range 2
West, Salt Lake Base t Meridian, being more
particularly described as follows:
The E 1/2 of Section 25, containing approximately 320
acres.
Tract 3
A parcel of land located in Township 1 North, Range 2
West, Salt Lake Base and Meridian, being more
particularly described as follows:
The W 3/4 of Section 33, all of Section 32 except the
portions described as follows : beginning 844.8 feet
south of the NW corner of said Section 32 and running
thence East 1320 feet; thence South 950.4 feet; thence
West 1320 feet; thence North 950.4 feet to the point of
beginning, and beginning at the SW corner of Section 32
and running north 330 feet; thence East 693 feet;
thence South 330 feet; thence West 693 feet to the
point of beginning. All of Section 29, all of Section
20, all of Section 17, all of Section 16 except the NE
1/4, all of Section 21 , all of Section 28, all of
Section 27, all of Section 22; the SE 1/4, the S 1/2 of
the NE 1/4, the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4, the NE 1/4 of the
SW 1/4, and the S 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of Section 15, the
W 1/2 of the SW 1/4, and the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of
Section 14; the W 1/2, the W 1/2 of the SE 1/4, the SN
1/4 of the NE 1/4, and beginning at the SE corner of
Section 23 and running thence West 80 rods; thence
North 80 rods; thence Southeasterly 113 rods to the
paint of beginning in Section 23; all of Section 26,
and the W 1/2 of Section 25, containing approximately
7,986 acres.
SECTION 2. ZONING. Be it further urdained and declared
that the whole property above described in Tracts 1 and 2 be, and
the same hereby is zoned Industrial ON-IA"; and the whole of the
property described in Tract 3, be, and the same hereby is zoned
Agricultural "4-1 " . The Use District Map as adopted by Section
51-12-1 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965,
as amended , relating to the fixing of boundaries of the Use
Districts is hereby amended by the addition of said properties to
such classif ications.
SECTION 3. GENERAL JURISDICTION. Be it further ordained
and declared that the said tracts of land described above in
Section 1 shall thenceforth be within the corporate limits of
Salt Lake City Corporation. Said tracts of land shall be zoned
as provided in Section 2. All ordinances, jurisdictions, rules
and obligations of or pertaining to Salt Lake City are extended
over and made applicable and pertinent to these tracts of land;
and the streets, blocks, alleys and ways of said tracts shall be
controlled and governed by the ordinance, rules, and regulations
of said City in that behalf. The monuments of the City Engineer
shall thenceforth be taken therein as the standards of locations
and distances of said land.
SECTION 4. CONDITIONS SUBSEQUENT. The annexation of said
p-operty is granted upo.A the condition that future subdivisions
and development of properties within this area will be considered
by the City only after a �,,iaster Man for the area has Leen
adopted by the City Council and at such time as adequate City
services have been programmed or 3xtended into the area by
developers or the City as prescribed by the City's Capital
Improvements Plan.

SECTION 5. Upon the passage and publication of this
ordinance, the City Recorder of Salt Lake City is hereby directed
to file with the County Recorder of Salt Lake County, a copy of
the map or plat above mentioned, duly certified and acknowledged,
as provided in such cases together with a certified copy of this
ordinance.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon the date
of its first publication, which shall not occur until the annexa-
tion plats or maps have been properly submitted, approved %nd
signed by the Mayor.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
