031 of 1992 - Appropriating necessary funds, to implement for fiscal year 1992-93, the provisions of the Memorandu0 92-1 0 92-12 SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE No. 31 of 1992 (Appropriating necessary funds, to implement for fiscal year 1992-93, the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between Salt Lake City Corporation and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) representing the 100 Series City employees) AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING NECESSARY FUNDS TO IMPLEMENT, FOR FISCAL YEAR 1992-93, THE PROVISIONS OF A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION AND LOCAL 1004 OF THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES REPRESENTING THE 100 SERIES CITY EMPLOYEES. PREAMBLE The City Council, in Salt Lake City Ordinance No. 51 of 1991, approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Salt Lake City Corporation and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, as the certified bargaining representative for the "100 Series" City employees. The Memorandum of Understanding is a two year agreement. The City Council appropriated necessary funds required to implement the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding for fiscal year 1991-92. For fiscal year 1992-93, the Memorandum of Understanding is subject to appropriation of funds by the City Council. Further, for fiscal year 1992-93, the Memorandum of Understanding provided a wage increase to employees covered by the Memorandum of Understanding equivalent to a percentage compensation increase given to all employees in any one certified bargaining unit. A 2% cost of living increase will be given to all employees in a certified bargaining unit for fiscal year 1992-93. Accordingly, the employees covered by the Memorandum of Understanding are entitled to a 2% cost of living increase for fiscal year 1992-93. The City Council, therefore, wants to appropriate funds to implement the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding for fiscal year 1992-93 and approve the 2% cost of living increase effective July 1, 1992, as provided in the Memorandum of Understanding. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this ordinance is to appropriate necessary funds to implement, for fiscal year 1992- 93, the provisions of a Memorandum of Understanding approved by the City Council in Salt Lake City Ordinance No. 51 of 1991 between Salt Lake City Corporation and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, as the certified bargaining representative for the 100 Series City employees and include in the appropriation a 2% cost of living increase, effective July 1, 1992, for all employees covered by the Memorandum of Understanding. SECTION 2. APPROPRIATION. The City Council hereby appropriates necessary funds to implement, for fiscal year 1992- 93, the provisions of a Memorandum of Understanding between the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, representing the 100 Series employees and Salt Lake City Corporation, as approved by the City Council in Salt Lake City Ordinance No. 51 of 1991, and include in the appropriation a 2% cost of living increase effective July 1, 1992, for all employees covered by the Memorandum of Understanding. SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be deemed effective on July 1, 1992.
