AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE LIMITS OF SALT LAKE CITY TO
INCLUDE THE "PAPPEL ANNEX"; ZONING THE SAME INDUSTRIAL "M-IA" BY
AMENDING THE USE DISTRICT MAP AS ADOPTED BY SECTION 51-12-2 OF
THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, AND
SPECIFYING CONDITIONS SUBSEQUENT TO SAID ANNEXATION.
WHEREAS, there has been filed with the City Recorder of Salt
Lake City, Petition Nos. 325 of 1977, 383 of 1978, and 909 of
1978, together with the plat showing the tract of land to be
annexed and hereafter known collectively as the "Pappel Annex",
requesting that the tract of land hereinafter described, be taken
within the limits of Salt Lake City Corporation, and
WHEREAS, the said Petitions are signed by a majority of the
owners of the real property and the owners of more than one third
in value of all the real property, as shown by the last
assessment rolls, situated in the tract hereinafter described;
and
WHEREAS, the petitioners have caused an accurate plat or map
to be made and certified to by a competent surveyor and approved
by the City Engineer, and to be filed with the City Recorder; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City on
June 12, 1979 approved the proposed annexation; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, on the
6th day of October, 1981, passed Resolution 81 of 1981 accepting
said petitions for purposes of review and hearings; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Salt Lake City, after examining
said Petitions, having said Petitions reviewed by various
departments of the City, having considered the circumstances
thereof at a publicly advertised hearing held November 17, 1981,
and after finding said proposed extension or annexation to be
consistent and in keeping with its Master Annexation Policy
Declaration being located in Area 13A of said Declaration as
amended on September 16, 1980, said Council voted by a unanimous vote
of all of its members present, in favor of said annexation; and
WHEREAS, no objection or contest to such annexation or
amendment to the Policy Declaration has been filed as required by
law;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE I'f ORDAINED by the City Council of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. AREA. That the City limits of Salt Lake City,
be, and the same hereby are, enlarged and extended so as to
include the following tract of land in Salt Lake County, Utah:
Beginning at a point on the south line of 1700
South Street and the west line of Pearl Street,
said point being East 33.09 feet South 0*00155"
East and 49.43 feet North 89°40'42" West and
557.50 feet South 89°54129" West from a City
monument in the intersection of 1700 South Street
and 900 West Street, said point further described
as being 33.00 feet West and 33.00 feet South from
the northeast corner of Lot 20 of Riverside Plat
in Section 14, T.1 S., R.1 W., Salt Lake Base and
Meridian; and running thence South 0°02'23" East
663.35 feet, along the west line of Pearl street;
thence North 89*54129" East 238.88 feet; thence

SECTION 2. "M-1A" ZONING. Be it further ordained and
declared that the whole property above described in Section 1 be,
and the same hereby is zoned Industrial "M-IA"; and the Use
District Map as adopted by Section 51-12-2 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to
the fixing of boundaries of the Use Districts, be, and the same
hereby is amended by the addition of said property to an
Industrial "M-lA" classification.
SECTION 3. GENERAL JURISDICTION. Be it further ordained
and declared that the said said tract of land described above in
Section 1 shall thenceforth be within the corporate limits of
Salt Lake City Corporation. Said tract of land shall be zoned as
herein provided in Section 2. All ordinances, jurisdictions,
rules and obligations of or pertaining to Salt Lake City are
extended over and made applicable and pertinent to this tract of
land; and the streets, blocks, alleys and ways of said tract
shall be controlled and governed by the ordinance, rules, and
regulations of said City in that behalf. The monuments of the
City Engineer shall thenceforth be taken therein as the standards
of locations and distances of said land.
SECTION 4. CONDITIONS SUBSEQUENT. The annexation of said
property is granted upon the following conditions subsequent.
Prior to providing any water and sewer service to the area within
the annexation, property owners at their expense must:
(1) Extend existing watermains on Margaret Street west to
connect to the watermain on 1045 West; (2) Install water mains
and fire hydrants according to the Salt Lake City specifications
for industrial areas; (3) Such water mains and hydrants and sewer
mains may be installed through a special improvement district
with the expense thereof to be borne by the property owners.

SECTION S. Upon the passage and publication of this ordinance,
the City Recorder of Salt Lake City is hereby directed to file with the
County Recorder of Salt Lake County, a copy of the map or plat above
mentioned, duly certified and acRnowledged, as provided in such cases
together with a certified copy of this ordinance.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon the date of
its first publication, which shall not occur until the annexation plat
has been properly submitted, approved and signed by the Mayor.
