073 of 1986 - Employee Compensation Plan for the Police 0 86-1 0 86-26 SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE No . 73 of 1986 (Employee Compensation Plan for the Police) AN ORDINANCE ENACTING SECTION 25-1-1. 2 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965 RELATING TO COMPENSATION FOR SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION EMPLOYEES REFERRED TO IN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE SALT LAKE POLICE ASSOCIATION DATED JUNE 11, 1985. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City , Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 25-1-1. 2 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City , Utah be and is hereby enacted as follows : Sec . 25-1-1. 2. Ccinmencing September 1 , 1986 the terms and conditions of a Memorandum of Understanding between Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake Police Association dated June 11 , 1985 and on file with the City Recorder' s office is adopted and shall be the compensation, working conditions and benefits of the City employees who are within the units and are covered by the referenced Memorandum of Understanding , except that retirement benefits covered by the Utah Public Safety Retirement Act, Title 49 Chapter 11 of the Utah Code Annotated , as amended in 1986, shall be as follows : ( 1 ) EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTION. The statutory mandated employee contribution to the Utah Public Safety Retirement System of 13. 74 per cent of monthly compensation shall be paid and allocated as follows : ( a) The City will pay on behalf of said employee, as a benefit previously negotiated, 9. 40 per cent ; ( b) The employee shall pay and have deducted from earned compensation 4. 34 per cent of monthly compensation , which sum includes the 1 .84 per cent increased cost imposed by the 1986 statutory amendments . ( 2 ) EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION. The Ci ty' s ( employer' s) required contribution to the aforesaid retirement system shall be 14. 32 per cent of the covered employee' s monthly compensation which sum includes the 1 . 92 per cent increase mandated by the 1986 statutory amendments. SECTION 2. The provisions herein shall be effective unless amended or unless a Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the recognized employee bargaining units is ratified by the City Council pursuant to the Salt Lake City Third Amended Collective Bargaining Resolution dated April 10, 1984 . SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect on first publication.
