(Amending Section 18.12.010 of the Salt Lake City Code to Require One Member of the Board
of Appeals and Examiners to be LEED Accredited)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 18.12.010, SALT LAKE CITY CODE,
BOARD OF APPEALS CREATED—PURPOSE AND AUTHORITY.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 18.12.010 of the Salt Lake City Code, pertaining to Board Of
Appeals Created—Purpose And Authority be, and hereby is, amended to read as follows:
18.12.010 Board Of Appeals Created—Purpose And Authority:
In order to provide for reasonable interpretations of the provisions of Title 18 of this code, and to
determine the suitability of alternates, there shall be created a board of appeals and examiners,
hereinafter called "board," consisting of five members who are qualified by experience and
training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction, housing, and abatement codes
and technical disciplines therein. One board member shall be a LEED accredited professional.
The board shall hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order,
requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of
this title. The board may also recommend new ordinances to the city council.
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of
its first publication.
