(Sewer Charges )
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 37-6-2 , SCHEDULE 3 RATES, OF
THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, RELATING TO
SEWER SERVICE CHARGES.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah :
SECTION 1 . That the sewer charges imposed by Section
37-6-2 , Schedule 3, Rates and Fees, be, and the same are hereby
partially amended to read as follows:
RATE SCHEDULE

3. Sewer Charges.
Each sewer service account shall be charged $4 . 00 per month
minimum charge or $1 . 08 per 100 cubic feet of the averaqe monthly
water meter readings of those using solely City water during the
consecutive months of November, December, January, February and
March each year, hereafter "winter readings" , whichever is
higher. Said winter readings shall be the basis for sewer
billings for the period July 1 through June 30 following such
winter readings.
Any user who has more than one water meter, one or more of
which measures water eventually discharged into the sewer and one
or more other meters measuring water not entering the sewer, will
be charged $1 . 08 per 100 cubic feet for all water used which may
enter the sewer, but will not be assessed a sewer charge on water
meter (s ) which measure water, no part of which flows into the
sewer system.
For those not using City water or using some City water, the
City may require a City approved meter, at the sewer user 's
expense, on the well ( s) or other source(s ) of water supply for
measurement by City during said months to determine the sewer
user 's water use during said months, the average of which shall
become the basis for sewer billings for said period.
For each single dwelling unit not using City water and
desiring not to install a water meter as required above, the
Director of the Department of Public Utilities may waive the
meter requirement, in which event the user will be charged for
sewer service as provided in Subparagraph ( 5 ) (a) hereof.

5. New sewer connections or change in occupancy.
Any new sewer service or existing sewer having changed
occupants ( applies only to one to three dwelling units) or those
which do not have sufficient or accurate data to establish said
monthly winter reading , sewer rate shall be assessed monthly
charges as follows until such data is available:
(a ) For each single dwelling unit, $8. 64 per month.
(b) For each duplex $8.64 per month, per dwelling unit.
(c ) For each triplex , $8. 64 per month, per dwelling unit.
(d ) For each multiple dwelling, a minimum monthly charge of
$8. 64 per dwelling unit or $0 .68 per 100 cubic feet of
total water consumption, whichever is highest.
(e ) For all other users , a minimum charge of $8. 64 per
month or $0 .68 per 100 cubic feet of total water
consumption, whichever is highest.

7 . Food pre2aration and processing establishments .
SEWER FEES
Effective January 1 , 1983, the Public Utilities Director
shall charge and the City Treasurer shall collect the folloing
fees which shall be raised:

8. Assessment fee. Where connections
involve main sewer lines installed
at City expense without assessment
to the property, an additional
charge representing the property
owner 's assessment shall be charged
at time of connection based upon

uses, per equivalent unit (one
equivalent unit equals 20 fixtures
based on Utah Plumbing Code) 500 .00

fixture unit, three trailer spaces
shall equal one equivalent fixture
unit 500. 00
( f) Special industrial and commercial
uses, including car washes ,
laundromats, etc . , as designated by
Public Utilities Director shall be
charged $500. 00 per equivalent
fixture units based on discharge
capacity as specified in the Uniform
Plumbing Code.
Effective January 1 , 1984, the Public Utilities Director
shall charge and the City Treasurer shall collect the folloing
connection fees:

(b ) Multi-family dwellings
( i ) Duplex 1 ,050.00
( ii ) Triplex 1 ,575.00
( iii ) Townhouse , ( apartment)

(c) Hotels and Motels
( i ) Per dwelling unit without
kitchen or restaurant 350.00
( ii ) Per dwelling unit with a
kitchen or restaurant 466.00
(d ) General commercial and industrial
uses, per equivalent unit (one
equivalent unit equals 20 fixtures
based on Utah Plumbing Code) 700. 00
(e ) Trailer parks, per equivalent
fixture unit, three trailer spaces
shall equal one equivalent fixture
unit 700.00
