107 of 1984 - Implementation of Community Volunteer Fire Prevention Program C 84-498 RESOLUTION NO. 107 OF 1984 IMPLEMENTING A COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER FIRE PREVENTION PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City is desirous of implementing a Community Volunteer Fire Prevention Proaram; and WHEREAS, it is desired that the Program utilize two paid part-time City employees, and numerous volunteers to he appointed by the Salt Lake Association of Community Councils (SLACC), to train elderly and handicapped individuals in fire safety and survival procedures and to provide and install a minimum of 1,000 smoke detectors in the homes of the elderly and handicapped; and WHEREAS, the City has applied to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for funds to finance said Proaram; and WHEREAS, FEMA has awarded to the City $25,000 to implement the Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BF IT RESOLVED b_v the Salt Lake Citv Council that the FEMA Community Volunteer Fire Prevention Program Cooperative Agreement (EMW-84-K-1702) hereby approved, and the $25,000 to be awarded to the City thereunder by FEMA, shall he reserved for and used in said proqram as reauired in said grant.
